Benjamin Franklin is a famous inventor and scientist. He invented the lightning rod and lots of other marvellous creations. He was born on Wednesday, in the 17th of January, 1706, in Boston, in America, on Earth, in the Solar System.

Mr. Franklin had a large family. He went to Philadelphia poor, homeless and alone.

Benjamin Franklin Is The First Firefighter

“An ounce of prevention is a pound of care”-Ben Franklin. On a visit to Boston, Ben noted that the inhabitants of his home city were more prepared to combat fires than the citizens of his new city, Philadelphia. Upon returning home, he consulted the Junto, a benevolent group focused on civic and self improvements, and asked for suggestions to combat flames.

Franklin’s Early Life

Ben was born on the 17th of January, 1706. He was raised in Boston with 16 siblings. He was forced to leave school at the age of 10, to help his father make candles. He worked for his for 2 years, then Ben stopped and quit his work. He was apprenticed to his brother, James, who ran a print shop.

Ben’s Family

Benjamin grew up with 16 other relatives. His father Josiah Franklin, was engaged to 2 women. Ben’s personal mother is Abiah Folger. His siblings are: Elizabeth, Samuel, Hannah, Josiah, Ann(e), Joseph (1), Joseph (2), Those children was born in Josiah’s first marriage. His second marriage: John, Peter, Mary, James, Sarah, Ebenezer, Thomas and finally Benjamin.

Benjamin’s Challenges

When Franklin got to Philadelphia, he only had the torn and destroyed clothes on him. He also had three pennies to his name. Starving, he staggered into a bakery. He stepped out with three loaves of bread. He devoured on and the other two awkwardly tucked under his arms. October 6th, 1723, he has consumed all of the bread.

During Benjamin Franklin’s career he made some amazing discoveries and achievements. One of his greatest achievements is doing the famous kite and lightning experiment.
