Read the text and learn more about toolkit 1. Begin implementing more group work in the day to day structure of my classroom by using visibly random groups with my students. Getting out of my comfort zone will be a challenge at the beginning, but the best way to get started is to just get started.

I will continue to work with K-4 teachers who are participating in our BTC leadership pathway by visiting their classrooms and emailing them. I will continue to read and continue my learning of Toolkit 2 and provide a PD experience for the K-4 teachers on Jan. 31 in our teacher pathway.

Part 2 (Jan. 24 Post)

I will continue to visit teacher classrooms that are participating in the BTC pathway in Warren. I will take photos and try to get some videos. I hope to meet with the teachers on Feb. 20 to discuss Toolkit #2. I also plan to reread the chapters in Toolkit #2.

Part 3 (March 6 Post)

I will continue to visit teacher classrooms who are participating in BTC at least one time by May. I will continue to email the K-4 teachers with some pieces of information/tips that would be beneficial for them. I will continue to reread chapters 7 through 15. I hope to meet with the K-4 teachers in May for professional development to celebrate learning and create next steps.

My goal is to get a few of the teachers in our cadre who are struggling to get started with toolkit #1 to get started with visibly random groups. They don't seem to feel like they can tackle all of Toolkit 1 at once so maybe focusing just on random groups with these teachers will help them take the BTC leap.

Continue to push teachers who are in the cadre to implement toolkit 1. Arrange for a class visit for a couple of still resistant teachers. The other teachers start to dive into other practices as several are ready to move on and have been asking questions about consolidation, notes, check for understanding questions, etc.

I want to reread the chapter on grading. I know that's way far away from toolkit one and where most of us are at, but it's a personal passion of mine. I want to put together a PD session for teachers on how to grade in a thinking classroom. I'll learn more and I'll be ready when teachers get to that point in their BTC journey.
