This film Explores themes of ingrained "machismo" and what it means to be a good man, a tough man, though this is squewed through generational trauma, becoming more cruel than tough.

During the phone call he expresses sadness and regret over treating his sister as some crazy out of control woman, instead apologising and showing vulnerability toward her something she doesn't often hear as she expressed disbelief he would even admit to his questionable behaviour, something that most likely is a product of generational trauma.

The brother apologises for his cruelty towards his sister, apologising for shutting her down and calling her crazy when he should have been there for her. Paired with the cool tones of colour and the eating of food under a night sky gives a feeling of clarity which is conveyed beautifully through this film, the booming music in the background shifting as their conversation continues, something so loud becoming almost silent.

He further explains how the dancers all started to merge into one, the flickering lights becoming more violent and the dancers moves becoming more sporadic, he then recounts how there is a man with the world in his arms and became "La virgen" that then becomes an older man holding a baby.

all this becomes one huge metaphor, the dancers representing freedom and flexibility, to someone carrying burdens or great weight, this can also be interpreted as the man carrying his world i.e., something precious. the man becomes "La virgen", the virgin Mary, this could be a metaphor for someone he looks up to or worships in a sense this could be representation for his mother or more likely representation for his father, someone towards the end of the film he looked fondly upon.

In a way it is partially portrayed that the father is the one that instilled the "Macho" persona onto his son as the Sister states that he had his issues, however this is most likely due to generational trauma passed down through certain family members behaviour and values.

the viewer is also led to believe the father is deceased due to how the two siblings speak about him, using words such as; was, has and did as well as the siblings long pauses when talking about him. both siblings seem to relate to each other, joking about how sad and depressed they both are, just like their father.
