In this era of turmoil, every individual strives and fights to secure the best from the outside world for himself. With different instances of unjust being done to the commoners, many have found a voice within themselves, against elements that keep the essentials from them. Among all this commotion, a lost voice of the less fortunate which hopes for equal treatment and opportunity, exists in all walks of life. The disabled are always perceived to do something menial and far less achieving, than others.

The stick is a friend to the Old aged, just like the Wheelchair is a comfort to the disabled. This medium ensures their movability around spaces in the various parts of the world. Facilities have also been enforced in certain places like shopping malls in the form of reserved parking spots denoted as handicapped.

World Health Organisation (WHO) has laid down certain guidelines regarding the general features that a Manual Wheelchair must exhibit, as far as the physical needs of the disabled person are concerned. The first guideline puts importance on the required needs of the disabled person. More importantly the design of the Wheelchair which may differ depending on the person’s specifics regarding his inability to function normally.

The design of the Wheelchair relies completely on the geographical features of the country. In a country like India where roads are not maintained well, there is not enough space on sidewalks for commuters to walk, railways aren’t safe for traveling and bus services are less than ideal, a superior design counters these surrounding problems in an attempt to safeguard the disabled person from facing potential hitches while traveling.

Second utmost important need to note is the physical stability of the disabled person. Sitting in a Wheelchair for long hours can be grueling. Not having a good structure to itself may give rise to several other problems as far as health is concerned. The spine being the prominent part of the body, endures most of the disabled person weight, hence its wellness and care must be taken into consideration while designing the Wheelchair.

As most private companies do hire disabled people, their working hours are longer than government jobs and most of the lifestyle is sedentary. Thereby, parts of the Wheelchair like the cushion must be tailored to be very comfortable and capable of supporting the center of the person’s mass for longer hours.

The third point to keep in mind is the safety of the disabled person. This anchors completely on the durability of the Wheelchair. No possible scenario where the disabled person may experience a threat to his safety should occur. The durability and strong nature capable of withstanding multiple impacts while commuting, decides how safe and reliable the Wheelchair is.

Inability to do so can stem physical problems in the future. Many Wheelchair companies focus on these aspects of the design closely before planning their manufacture. Such features ensure a safe ride to the person using Wheelchairs, with durability being at the forefront of all manufacturing process.

Disabled people range from below the poverty line, middle class to the financially stable. WHO has made clear allotment laws regarding Wheelchair as an supportive aid for someone traveling from India to a foreign country. Furthermore people who belong to a lower financial strata of the society, would not be able to cover the costs of Wheelchair maintenance and its repair. Hence the need worthy is done by Government Medical Centers by providing technical support at an affordable costs to the financially challenged for their well being.

Wheelchairs also stand as a symbol of independence for the disabled people. The ability to participate into any activity among others in the outside world without being within the boundaries of four walls, implies that Wheelchair’s are a gateway to free and independent lifestyle. Going places not only keeps the person up to par with the world, but also gets him out of a mental rut that develops after stagnancy hits. It is a means in itself to abolish discrimination that the disabled person may feel, something he has no control over, given the unfortunate circumstances.

Individual value is outlined by allowing the disabled person to use a Wheelchair, parallel to other people in the world who are earning a livelihood. A person may have just finished his necessary education and landed a job, but an accident may have caused him to lose functionality in one of the body parts necessary for mobility. At such a stage where a source of income; a utmost necessity could fall apart, the person could put in some effort and still utilize his functioning physical self at his workplace with the assistance of a Wheelchair. Not only would such a constructive move boost his morale, but also enforce a deeper sense of confidence within him to soar towards greater ambitions.

Different types of Manual Wheelchairs have been introduced in recent years. A person who may have good motor skills with excellent feet and hand movement can also apply for driving tests, wherein the seating arrangement in the car is altered to fix a Wheelchair in the drivers spot. Using such function may cover long distance travels whilst having the option of being able to move freely once outside the car.

Being disabled is far from being someone who has limited opportunities and can only work within a certain parameters as far as earning a livelihood is concerned. With several percentage of reservation already being imposed in government jobs and several other autonomous organizations, the chances of a disabled person with a educational background getting distressed about his career, are second to none in today’s world.

For more Info:- artificial limb in hyderabad
