         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Sonderkommandos were groups of prisoners who were given special privileges in exchange for working the death camps. They had to shave heads, guide people to the gas chambers, dispose of ashes from the crematoria, and more. In exchange they lived in more sanitary barracks, had better food, and got better treatment from the guards. </div>]]></description>

He was an active member of the Sonderkommandos that blew up the Creamatoria in Birkenau. Later his diaries were found buried and they remain as a vitual piece of information about what went on in Auschwitz.</div>]]></description>
