This is a game-like worksheet perfect for kinesthetic, tactile, auditory/ linguistic, logical, bodily learners, with an interest mainly in sports and music, to practice the past tense. Learners have to figure out their identity and to do so they must communicate meaningfully with their classmates, while walking around and keeping active. The exercise is controlled and the task is completely free-practiced and fluency/communicative-focused. However, it does require a lot of time for the preparation of the materials, such as creating and cutting the cards and ADAPTING the texts (source; Wikipedia) for each of the 25 famous people.

This worksheet has the same topic as the text of the workbook (Vikings and Aztecs are both lost civilisations), so that the class will not have to switch topics in an awkward way. The first two activities are easy, but the third, which is also a writing task, will help students revise and put past tenses into practice. It is more suitable for learners with higher linguistic intelligence. I had trouble finding activities that are not too long but would still be effective and engaging for students as well.

Kastana Maria-Magdalini. A game-like worksheets that encourages learners to get involved actively with the educational process. Students learn through playing an all-time classic game, called "Bingo". It forces students to recall, detect and chooce numbers. This exercise is controlled and involves many different types of intelligence, such as the visual one. The "Bingo" game is proved to be highly beneficial. It doesn't require much preparation.

Learners are asked to watch a short video in order to complete the chart that follows. Watching a video is an interesting and funny way to study a grammar phenomenon which is quite demanding. This worksheet is rather appropriate for visual-auditory learners with linguistic intelligence. After watching the video and completing the chart, students have to complete some sentences using the irregular verbs they practised in the first exercise in order to make sure they understand their meaning. In exercise c, they are asked to write a short story so as they can put their newly acquired knowledge into practice.

The purpose of this activity is to help students practice their past tense knowledge, while promoting their interaction through conversing with one another. This activity promotes kinesthetic, auditory, linguistic and logical types of intelligence, and draws examples from everyday life, making it easier for the students to understand the statements.

(Vasiliki Ntzani) This worksheet is mainly designed for auditory/linguistic B1 language level learners, who are acquainted with a short clip from "Home Alone". In the clip, many Past Simple verbs are being used, so the student has to then transform them into the Simple Present and the opposite. Then they are asked to do another smaller activity, in which they transform affirmative sentences into question and negative form. I believe that this worksheet will be entertaining for the students to complete and will familiarise them with the grammatical phenomenon of Past Simple.

This worksheet was designed for young learners of A2 level CEFR as a supplementary material for their textbook. Students can practise countries and nationalities and answer questions about themselves based on the topic. There is also a listening activity. Students will watch a video from VOA (Voice of America- https://learningenglish.voanews.com/a/lets-learn-english-lesson-16-where-are-you-from/3355849.html) about the same topic and fill in gaps. I designed this worksheet in order my students to revise the new vocabulary items they learnt and be able to answer questions like "Where are you from?" or "Where do you live?". In addition, the video provides a real-life experience where these questions can be asked. The only difficulty I encountered is that i wanted my worksheet to be suitable for my students level and a bit challenging for them, but not discouraging. Nikoleta Zisi

This worksheet is a revision on the past simple of regular an irregular verbs. I decided to provide the students with a recap of the two main rules of the use of past simple: 1) we use it for routines and habits. 2) we use it to tell stories. As an exercise on the first rule I asked students to write a short answer using the past simple as a response to the question that I posed on them. This will help with their writing skills, with expressing themselves and will encourage them to put their knowledge into action. As far as the second rule is concerned, I decided to ask them to engage with the lesson's grammar in a more fun way, by dramatizing a story/putting up a play in front of the classroom in pairs. This is an exercise that will capture the interest of all students and especially those with a kinaesthetic-tactile learning style. It will also work as a great way for the students to work on their interpersonal skills, as they will have to communicate with their fellow classmates in order to write the story and then produce the play in the classroom.

They will read and listen to the same extract from the well-known book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and then complete the activities that follow, which focus on the practice of Past Simple, with regular and irregular verbs. The target intelligences are mainly linguistic and interpersonal at a second level (since the students are asked to interact with their classmates after the writing activity). The teacher's role during the completion of the worksheet is to be the guide, to introduce the activities, help them with unknown vocabulary in order to complete the exercises and generally provide any help if needed.

Moreover, a separate activity has been designed for students to practice and revise their knowledge on the past-tense forms of regular and irregular verbs. A possible difficulty that may come up is the vocabulary of the reading text that is provided, considering that some words may be unfamiliar to learners. Nevertheless, that is an issue that can easilybe resolved, if we give students some time beforehand to quickly scan the text and ask for any unknown words.

Students will learn about great figures of the past, more specifically Albert Einstein, and will be able to refer to them using both regular and irregular verbs in their past form. Through the activities that are desinged, learners will be able to detect forms of Past Simple in the text and convert them into Present Simple. More specifically, the Ss are expected to watch a short clip taken form the movie "The Pirates of Caribbean" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a27YX-ToMM4) and are therefore asked to afterwards complete an exercise based on the clip. This activity is thus appropriate for Ss of visual-auditory style while simultaneously combining the linguistic and logical intelligence. After completing the exercise the Ss are asked to retell the story to their classmates in the Past simple tense. Finally, a possible dramatization of the scene is possible thereby targeting those of kinesthetic learning style and intelligence. Consequently, the Ss are able to both practice their grammar and vocabulary knowledge through also working on their listening and speaking skills.

This worksheet would be used as a supplementary material to the workbook's text about Vikings. Students would learn more about the Vikings, and especially the sports they participated in (a topic that interests them). Moreover they would practice more the use of the Past Simple.
Georgia - Maria Epsimou

Τhis is a revision worksheet about the past simple. Its target group is mostly audiovisual students and it incorporates the linguistic level of intelligence. I would use it at the end of class to summarize what we have learned. The Christmas theme, the video, and the last exercise add to the fun since this is a very traditional type of worksheet.

This is a self-made task that involves video watching (visual, auditory styles), stimulates learners in a fun way (witty, figurative language) and promotes collaborative work and communication in forming responses to questions that appear prior to relevant parts in text. Students are to take notes and form their responses at the end of the video by using the right form of verbs (past simple: ir/regular) as they hear them in the video. What's more, the topic of the video recycles vocabulary of the reading text and helps consolidate meaning of words through visual aid and by mnemonic association.

In my opinion this worksheet fullfill to some extend the criteria of backwards design model but there is definitely a lot of room for improvement and lacks that need to be filled in order for the students to be more effective.First of all it is very important students to be able to know what to do and what is worthy retain after this exercise as for example here the use of Past Simple through everyday examples. Secondly, it is very important for the teacher to choose material that will follow the same line with the desired results as in this exercise in which all sentences refer to the past in order this past tence to be revised and consolidated. Finally very crucial is the instructions of the exercise to be given clearly and understandable to all the students something that I think has not been completely achieved here, as the student is immediately introduced to an exercise without further and helpful clarifications and also into the context of a lclassroom this worksheet should be differentiated according to the specific characteristics of each one of the students so as to meet the standards of all pupils and as a consequense to be effective for all of them!
