Suggest students being part of VAPA committee… those theater and band “geeks” have a lot of good suggestions, ideas, and input.

At a school site, what is the process for determining how money is spent? At high schools, separate funds for Visual Arts and Performing Arts, how are the monies allocated for the different programs within the department? I. E. Band vs choir vs theater?

Promoting performing arts within district… example, theatre departments have shows right now, is there a way to promote all the shows? A VAPA master calendar? Communications coverage at shows and performances- choir concerts, stage productions, band competitions, etc?

These performances are opportunities for the community to support the students, opportunities for community members to get exposure performing arts, cost effective way to make have young students be part of the audience

Are there any conversations being had around having SDC students receive VAPA in their classrooms? With teachers managing 3 different grade levels/curriculums, it can be challenging to have different groups of students out at different times in the day/week.

Keep funding levels for VAPA teachers (9) so we don’t lose prop 28 teachers.

Well it sound like we need to do everything we can to make sure we secure the 9 VAPA teachers .

If all means all then it would be nice to have some outreach to our preschool teachers to make sure they are equipped to support the visual art, music, Drama, & Dance Measurements in the DRDP.

All means all - except for preschool sped.

Performing arts is a wonderful educational and also therapeutical for some students to express themselves.

For JFKMCHS, since we do not have music and art programs, aside from the dance team, do we still receive the VAPA funds, and if we do, how is it decided where those funds are allocated?

I manage a 10u softball team here in Corona. The girls are constantly talking about VAPA and how much they love and look forward to it. The VAPA program is something that needs to continue to be funded to benefit all of our students.

VAPA is doing a wonderful job exposing children to the arts and the presentation was equally valuable.

As mentioned during the meeting, let’s focus on professional development for kids interested in the arts in areas like engineering/ architecture/ teaching/ acting / graphic design marketing etc and emphasize the importance of early intervention especially in music. It may also be of benefit to provide cultural awareness through the different art forms to expand parent engagement.
