1. Zeus

Zeus was an important figure in Greek Mythology because he was the god of the sky, and ruled over the other Olympian gods. His role was to govern the people as the ruler of state, watch over the other gods as the father of gods, and represent the laws of peace and unchanging laws.

The myth of Zeus is that he was the son of titans, Cronus and Rhea and was saved by his mother from being eaten by his father. Cronus had previously eaten his other children to prevent them from overthrowing him! Rhea was not happy with this and decided to trick Cronus into eating a rock instead of Zeus! I chose Zeus because he was the ruler of Olympus and considered one of the most powerful of all the gods.

Two words to describe Zeus are powerful and wise.

2. Athena

If someone were to ask you to describe the goddess Athena in 2 words you could say kind and generous. She had a very big impact of Greek civilization with her many contributions. She watched over the work of men in the cities and helped them improve their work. She had invented the plow and rake as well as her making the first bridle and showed men house to use it. One of her biggest contributions was she had taught men how to count and use numbers.

A story about Athena goes as follows. There was a man named Odysseus. He had proven himself to be one of the bravest and most cunning of all other chiefs. Yet he somehow displeased the god Poseidon. He was blown away for 10 years by storms because posseidon would not permit him to go back to his far off home. He battled giants, monsters, and had a wrecked ship. Athena was there by his side encouraging him, watched over him and thought him tricks to get through things. Athena had brought him home safely in spit of what Poseidon tried to do to prevent it.

I chose the goddess Athena because I believed she had a great impact on Greek civilizations. She had shown that she had great impacts as well.

3. Hades

Hades was important to Greek Mythology because he was the keeper of souls in the underworld and the ruler of the dead. He was seen as someone to fear, and he knew and liked that people were afraid of him. I chose Hades because there few evil gods, and Hades is the main one.

The story I chose is the story of Hades and Persephone. One day Hades saw Persephone and he fell in love with her right away. He and his brother Zeus came up with a plan to capture her. So, when she was with her friends she saw a beautiful field with one yellow Narcissus flower. She went to go pick the flower, but it wouldn't come out of the ground. With all of her energy, she finally picked the flower but she was left exhausted. Suddenly, the spot she had picked the flower from became a giant hole which she fell through, all the way down to the Underworld. Persephone's mother Demeter begged Hades to let her come back to earth. Before she left the Underworld, Persephone ate four pomegranate seeds. In Greek mythology, eating the food of the person who captured you means you have to go back to them. Therefore, Persephone goes back to the underworld four months out of the year. This story signifies the coming and going of spring and winter.

Two words you could use to describe Hades are intimidating and evil.
