During the lecture, we had a talk from M&S where they discussed how they recruit and what they look for in a candidate. This was an eye-opener, and really interesting to find out what a brand is looking for in a real-life scenario. It helped me to understand what I need to prepare for in the future and where I may need to work to be interview ready. What I learnt from the talk- CV needs to be no more than two pages, M&S offer graduate schemes where they understand not everyone will have work experience, and finally, M&S offer assessment days in the last process of the interview and it is crucial to be prepared.

As well as a talk from M&S, I took the 16personalities test and the assessment on the careers page on personalities. I received the personality type: Consul (ESFJ-T). This is a crucial skill needed in a day to day life and being able to break down and understand how to improve my team building skills which felt really important. The exercises we done in the lecture allowed me to feel confident in working amongst a team and was a fun way to get to know new people in the class. Being able to work as a team is a crucial element needed to work in the buying department. First of all, it was great to hear from the people who work there and their experiences. It was an eye-opener and made me feel positive about moving from uni into the industry. I feel like Id enjoy working for ASOS and id love to keep an eye out for job applications.

After the talk we split off into smaller groups, I went into the buying group. In here we were in groups of 5s and tasked with picking 3 trends to be featured on the ASOS website. This was all about  decision-making. I loved doing this, I feel as if I took a good leadership role in the team and made me feel more confident for future assessment centre days. I gained skills in understanding how assessment centres run and what to expect if I was to attend one. First of all id like to say I really enjoyed this and had good fun. It was split into 3 sections with the first one being a group task. This was really interesting to see how other people interpreted the brief and being able to work as a team to decided on 10 people out of 30. I feel like I took a good leadership role and wasn't afraid to voice my opinions amongst others. 

For the second task we had to write a mock email following a brief. At first I was worried as with my dyslexia I do find it hard to write professional emails, however once I got into the hang of this it was fun and I feel like it is a skill I will need in everyday life. I found it was easier to write down my ideas and then rewrite sections in smaller chunks to make them clear and professional. 

And finally, the final task was an aptitude test. I did find this difficult but I liked the way it got my brain working and its something I miss from secondary school. I have always enjoyed maths more than English and it was good to see that I still have the skills in me to get 85%. I was super happy with this and I want to continue to take tests like this every now and then to get my brain working and refresh my skills.

Overall, I really enjoyed the boot camp and am glad I got to experience this to gain an inside into skills such as Management and Leadership styles. This week we focused on how people are influenced and how we can impact others personally. We watched a video on the 5 chairs theory and this was an eye opener into how we can be split into different personalities. From this video and seminar I gathered an understanding into where I full into. Personally I feel like I lean more towards the green chair. I find myself curious into the life of others and the way they feel but am also very clean on who I am as a person and feel balance in they way I treat people against the way I want to be treated. I feel I least fit into the blue chair. Sometimes I find it difficult to say what I want, don't get me wrong I know exactly how I feel but don't often know how to express this to other people. This is something I could observe and learn from the blue chair to become more confident in expressing how I feel in the future.
