The line that stuck with me the most throughout the book was when Coraline said, "When you're scared but you still do it anyway, that's brave." which points to the main theme of the book: courage.

Residential: the story takes place in a large old house which is divided into several apartments. coraline and her parents live in one of the units.

Surroundings: The house is surrounded by a large garden and woods, which are the sites of Coraline's daily explorations.

Neighbors: Coraline's neighbors include Miss Spink and Miss Forcible, who live upstairs, and Mr. Bobinsky, who lives in the basement.

2. Otherworld:

Parallel Houses: the Otherworld is a mirror image of the real world, but everything is more ornate and inviting.

Other Mother's Control: In the Other World, there is an Other Mother and Other Father who seem to care about her. However, everything in this world is controlled by the Other Mother, who tries to tempt Coraline to stay with all these superficial niceties.

Mystery and Danger: As the story progresses, the Otherworld reveals its true nature. The world is not just a mirror image of what it seems to be, but is actually full of traps and threats.

Secondly, Coraline recalls an encounter with wasps when she and her dad went to the mountains. In order for Coraline to escape safely, her dad chose to stay behind to attract the swarm and get stung himself. This incident taught Coraline the meaning of bravery, which she applied to her own actions on subsequent adventures. This recollection demonstrates the important role that bravery plays in the transmission of moral character to others.

Lastly, Coraline shows her courage throughout the story, especially when confronting Other Mother. Despite her fear, she bravely enters the spider witch's trap and confronts it. This act echoes her quote, "You're afraid of something, but you go ahead and do it anyway, and that's brave." which shows that true bravery is not the absence of fear, but overcoming it to do the right thing.
