The difference between using elimination with addition or subtraction and elimination with multiplication is that in the addition or subtraction you just look up for numbers with opposite signs and same coefficient you would need to subtract or add if they are the same number and same sign.

Elimination with multiplication you choose the easiest variables and then you would need to look up for the least common number and then you would need to multiply to get that number and then you solve it.

The difference is that when you multiply, the coefficients can change to have opposites and eliminate x or y. But, in addition or subtraction you can't solve the system of equations without multiplying because they wouldn't have the same coefficients.

All that is deem neccesary is to add or subtract first to eliminate a variable.

In multiplication, the coefficients are different. To solve the equations, you must find the least common multiple of a coefficient, then multiply one or two equations to get the same coefficients. Then it is possible to solve the equations.
