She is conscious of this because she works in environments like war zones and gang violence where it is not only dangerous in general, there is also an added danger because of her gender and in some scenarios her race comes into play as well. She loves to photograph humanitarian issues in order to show others what is problems are currently happing in the world.

They are left alone on this area of land told to be free and build their homes while they have barely any resources and money. Less than 7% of the people there have college degrees and less than 1% of the land there is free to build on according to the government.
