         <description><![CDATA[<div>During this time, women demanded all sorts of change. One specific thing they demanded was to prohibit the drinking of alcohol. Although doctors used it on their patients it was bad for people that abused it. Women also wanted change in education. For example, Prudence Crandall, opened a school for girls in Canterbury, Connecticut and two years later admitted an african american girl.          <description><![CDATA[<div>During the Second Great Awakening a lot of social reforms we're looked upon. A result from this was that prisons were being studied and looked into by Dorthea Dix. After this it was noted that a lot of simply mental ill people were in prison because there were no hospitals for these people. He had this thought that if the government had laws you did not like, just do not follow them. These wider ideas were a big part in the Second Great Awakening.
