In the early 20th century  there were many guitar players that where playing in a big band. An easy way to make them hear was with an amplifier, but, how to pass the sound of guitar to that amplifier? Thats were Paul and Beauchamp get in, with the famous coils that makes a guitar, an electric guitar. The coils catch the vibration of the steel strings (the coils are magnets), and with an electrical system the capted vibrations pass to the amplifiers and the sound get out.
