What are the representations of black British culture?

- The Voice

creates objective viewpoints within its articles similar to the BBC. Focusing upon the David Lammy and Stacey Dooley dispute, the voice tends to create a bias by not involving Dooley's argument within the article. This could support Gilroy's adaptation of Dubois' double consciousness theory as black identity is complex and heterogeneous throughout the construction of the newspaper. The Voice develops black British identity in a hybrid way: showcasing politics, music and other categories throughout.

Black British culture is celebrated in the voice because the voice may feel that it is their responsibility as mainstream media does not celebrate all black people success and sometimes even targets them, an example is Sterling the footballer who is under constant fire from newspapers for no real reason (eg a tattoo he got), but he is never celebrated for his football games or charity work, therefore the voice wants to do what the mainstream won’t! Celebrate those who deserve it regardless to skin colour.
