It is significant because it is a revolution centered on students and citizens in order to defend democracy.

5.18 The democratization movement  (1980.05.18)
: It is the day when the people of Gwangju will start the democratic uprising against the new military forces that caused the military coup.

June Democracy Struggle (1987.06.10~ 06.29)
: Demonstration of anti-humanism and democracy in Korea. President Jeon Doo Hwan's constitutional amendment to the Constitution, which is based on the indirect election in which the presidential electoral college selects the president and on June 29, Roh Tae - woo 's announcement of the amendment resulted in the amendment to the direct presidential election system.
