After taking this quiz, I was not surprised at all by my results. According to my results, I am the type of person that wants to exceed and do well, but without putting in a lot of work or effort. To be honest, sometimes I just do what I can to get by. A lot of times this is because I feel swamped with other things on my plate. Part of this problem is the fact that I am a procrastinator. If I didn't wait until the last minute to do things, I would have more time to increase my effort and challenge myself more academically. This is something I am trying to get better at. :)

I have taken a few courses on growth vs. fixed mindset. I feel like this test helped solidify my personal movement toward the direction I’ve been headed these past few years- toward a growth outlook. It is in understanding that learned behavior in mindset is real that I’ve better been able to understand how this affects students.
In my personal educational journey I’ve been the kid who struggled and thought I was ‘less than’ because of it. Through the development of this growth pattern I hope to impart more than that on my fellow teachers and students. Just because something is hard doesn’t mean it isn’t worthy. Just because something is easy doesn’t mean that everything must come with little to no struggle. It's’ in understanding this that we are able to stretch ourselves, learn new things, and experience life through a different lens.

I answered the first two questions thinking about the students I worked with years ago when working on my Special Education degree, so this may lowered my results a little bit. My mindset of not being smart enough has been changing over the past couple of decades, but I still need to continue to work on believing in myself.
In my first grade classroom, we are watching little videos about growth mindset. The first one today was about how the brain is like a muscle and for it to get smarter, you have to do harder things! So I do talk the talk, now I just have to do as I say!

I found that my quiz results accurately described where I am in my journey to having a growth mindset. For example, it identified my desire to perform well and my dismay/disappointment when that does not occur. It also hit on the fact that I am frequently concerned about how others view me and the judgements that they make. I do not want to be seen as someone who is incompetent or unable to complete my work.
The one aspect of the quiz that I did not agree with was its' assessment that I was unsure about whether or not a person can develop his/her intelligence. The quiz question asked whether a person can change his/her intelligence a "good deal". I believe that a person can change his/her intelligence, I just didn't like the "good deal" aspect of the question. I truly believe that individuals who put the time and effort into learning can be successful at increasing their intelligence.
Overall, I believe that I am well on the way to having a growth mindset. However, I need to worry less about making mistakes and focus more on using those mistakes to learn. I also need to remind myself that hard work will pay off in the end. There is an old saying ""You get what you give!" that reinforces this.

I have been researching for the last year on growth mindset. I know that making mistakes help your brain grow and that is how you learn. I do not get frustrated when I don't understand. I just keep on working to learn more. I do need motivation and deadlines in order to start that process. As I read in chapter 1, a person's personality can affect how this growth mindset occurs. I often encourage my students to have a positive growth mindset in class. I have been working on my own growth mindset and sometimes it is a struggle.

I was not surprised at all by my results. I have been working on a growth mindset for a while but found that I was already there. Now I am working on using that mindset in my personal life. As a scientist, I learn best by making mistakes. In science, mistakes are a good thing because they help you get closer to your answer or guide you into a new direction. I take this view on my everyday life too. Being challenged and learning new things is something I am passionate about. I will truly be a student forever because I can't leave school. I love to learn. I never feel discouraged if something is too hard. In reality, I try harder to prove that I can do it.
