Kevin was trying to find a way out which explains the knocked over flowers. Kevin then proceeded to call Doug for help at 3:33pm but Doug didn’t end up seeing the message on his phone until 5:10. We believe Doug came over to finish off what Carla started and that is why it took so long for police to arrive if Doug saw the message at 5:10 why did it take 3 hours after the fact he got an urgent message from his father for police to arrive at 8:25pm. This explains why carla threw doug under the bus because she had started the murder but didn't finish it. The policy also says they get double if he dies by murder. Carla still has a key if she was able to get in 3 days ago too. The fedex guy, Harvey, stated that Kevin had seemed frazzled.. As mentioned in Carla’s witness statement they were trying to work out their problems. She could have already been inside Kevin’s home and having this conversation and may have gotten out of hand to strike a motive.

He was diagnosed with depression which will explain the empty alcohol bottles, he was drinking away his feelings, the overdose on codeine, and he was on clonazepam and he took 4mg when he was supposed to take around 1mg. He was classified as drunk with the alcohol level of 0.9,  With the separation of him and his wife and the bankruptcy he is facing, we believe he thought he had nothing left to live for. The voicemail he left Doug was most likely delirious since he was doped up on drugs and alcohol.
