  • Pregnant women exposed to the bombings experienced higher rates of miscarriage and deaths among their infants; their children were more likely to have intellectual disabilities, impaired growth and an increased risk of developing cancer.
  • And for all survivors, cancers related to radiation exposure still continue to increase throughout their lifespan, even to this day, seven decades later.

The imprisonment of Japanese American citizens was the choice of the American government. Both of the designated populations these governments rule surely had altering opinions as individuals thinking without a reputation of power to hold. With that said, if you were to look at the roots for the reasons these bombs were dropped, both the people and government had made mistakes. The attack on Pearl Harbor is not at all justified especially as its motive was not directly related to the relationship between Japan and America. The imprisonment and stigmatization of Japanese Americans in the US is not a fully thought through solution by any means. Both of these nations have made huge mistakes. While a solution other than war and mass destruction is not as easy as ¨talking it out,¨ there could have been numerous other routes to a peaceful resolution between nations.
