BBFC 
British board of film classifications their role is to protect the public especially children from watching content deemed unsuitable for their age. this is done to recognise adult freedom and law. They provide a service and work alongside the film industry and advise

Copyright law
Copyright is a law that protects peoples intellectual property from being copied. the benefits are that creators can freely make their vision and not worry about people taking the idea. Some problems with the copyright is that its very expensive to pay for rights to things meaning smaller companies have less access to things bigger companies could easily finance.
Websites that breach copyright law are sites like Putlocker Limewire and youtube mp3 converter.

Privacy law 
media companies need to be mindful of peoples and celebrities privacy as everyone has the right to privacy.

Libel law 
Libel law is a law set in place to stop media companies from slandering people. an example of a tv show who broke libel law is Sacha Baron Cohen's tv show this is America as a lot of things said as a joke are taken seriously by the un suspecting guests. Joanna Yeates was a 25 year old woman from Hampshire England who was murdered in December of 2010. 
Christopher Jefferies who was Joanna Yeate's land lord at the time so a lot of public suspicion fell on him, the media caught up on this and began to slander and imply he was the murderer in the papers, since then the newspapers had to pay Chris various libel damages. after the case of Joanna was solved Chris sued various newspaper companies due to slander and defamation of character.  

BBC guide lines 
Conflict of interest 
when making a tv show the production cannot be biased, for example if DIY SOS did an episode in which the team fix one of the producers family members house this would not be allowed as it is unfair. Production cannot be influenced by outside sources. and the public must be able to trust the bbc.

Reporting statistics 
When the BBC report on stat based content they must make sure they avoid taking the statistics at face value, the statistics must be accurate. They must challenge incorrect statistics and then correct them and finally help the audience understand so they can make their own decisions.

Crime 
When reporting on crimes the bbc must follow these guidelines. they cannot fear-monger, they need background statistics tho make sure the reporting is accurate. they must give a factual description no colourful describing words. And reconstructions must reflect only what we know about the crime.

a law against racial discrimination in media, it was introduced in 1965 to outlaw discrimination of people based on their colour.

You can also take your tv anywhere with youHigh definition or "HD" is when what you are watching is high definition and has a large pixel count. Standard definition means there is less pixels on screen making the quality lack. where as high definition makes a much clearer picture. Sky has a PPV experience this stands for "pay per view" you can watch various big sporting events live using this add on. Catch up television was made for people who don't have enough time to watch their favourite shows when they are airing. Catch up lets you catch up on your favourite shows and many tv broadcasters have there own version of catch up these vairy as different shows are exclusive to different broadcasters. The sky store lets you pre order and watch movies early. There are a lot of different streaming services like Netflix, Amazon prime, YouTube TV and Hulu.
