During this assignment I learned about how Paula Scher’s designed for Public Theater. She created advertisements and art of her own. It was different than I thought it would be, because when I think graphic design I think of something digital, not like advertisements. I like some of the art that she makes. I love the big, bold, colorful words. I feel like she makes stuff in a style that is very recognizable as her own.

Pattern Making

I liked making the pattern because I thought it was pretty easy. I liked the way that my first pattern came out more than my second one because I like how I shaped the B better than how I shaped the K. I like the colors I choose for my patterns as well. I think making an original pattern is a great way to add something fun to a design, and I will probably use it in the future.

Donut Design

I thought this assignment was fine, I liked being able to design the donuts however I wanted too instead of following something. I stuck to a fruit theme and that make them cohesive with one another and easy to come up with ideas for. My favorite one is the orange one, because I think it turned out the best. I thought all of the new tools we learned were pretty easy to use.

This is definitely my least favorite project we have done so far. The photoshop part wasn’t bad, it was coming up with ideas that is the most difficult part. I would say I was successful but I don’t love any of the designs I made of the ideas I had. The Pepsi one was my favorite because I think it looks the best. Overall I didn’t hate this project but it was not my favorite.

I liked this assignment because I got a lot of time to play around with photoshop. I liked making the logos and having guidelines to follow. I also liked having the specific color codes because it was one less thing I had to think about. This logo should be chosen because it follows the prompts and uses all of the correct colors.

Flyer

I thought that this project was fine. I don’t think that flier design is something that I am naturally good at. I am feeling a lot more comfortable on photoshop. The blue one is my favorite. My flier should be chosen because I think it has an artsy look and I like the font used on the title.

Zombiewood

I thought this project was fun. I liked having a lot of creative freedom and being able to do any scary and not just limited to zombies. My favorite one is either the Lady Gaga one or the Taylor Swift one because I don’t love how any of the ones that are supposed to be zombies turned out.

Logo For Kernes

Our client wanted a logo made for the High School Theater Renovation Celebration. It needed to integrate the ideas of theatre and choir together. Even though none of my logos were chosen I still enjoyed this project.

Movie Poster Parody

I loved this project. I asked Coach Ward it I could take pictures of him for this project and I used them to recreate posters of some movies I like. I’m feeling pretty proficient in photoshop and the actual creating of the posters was pretty easy for me. If I were to do this again, I would not change anything, because i love how they turned out.

Famous Art Parody

I enjoyed this project and I didn’t think it was that difficult. Once I got the hang of the color balance I think my pictures turned out well. I’m feeling good on photoshop, and I know how to do the things we’ve learned. Overall I think this project was successful and fun to do.

KHS Grad Ticket

We had to design a ticket that could potentially be chosen for the actual High School graduation ticket. I didn't love this project because we had so much freedom, but also had to follow strict guidelines. It was hard find the medium between those.

Food Truck Logo

I thought that this project was fine. I liked the logo design portion the best because it is similar to what we have been doing. The actual food truck was my least favorite part of the project because the template was hard to work with. I feel like we all did our share of the work and worked well together. I think all of our finished designs look good and overall the project was fine, it just lasted a long time.

DIY Week

For DIY week I was asked by another teacher to make a brochure for the Education Internship Program. I liked doing this and having all of the information, and just having to lay it out nicely. I have had trouble with getting it formatted correctly to to print into the actual brochure.

Reflection

In the beginning of this class I found photoshop very difficult and I was ok with it just not being my strongest skill. A few months into this class it clicked for me and I started finding photoshop much easier and fun to use. I started knowing nothing and now I can create good quality images. My favorite projects were the movie poster parodies and the famous art parodies because I was able to make them fun and silly. I also liked getting the experience of working with clients. Overall I enjoyed this class and learned a lot of new useful skills.
