What do I need to do before the first day of school?

Following completion of the student enrollment process, the Learning Coach will receive communication from K12-confirmation@k12.com confirming the student’s enrollment and start date.

Additionally, the Learning Coach will receive an email from registration@k12.com .

With the information from the email, the Learning Coach may set up the Learning Coach and Student accounts. Please click on the link below for video instructions on how to set up the accounts.

Don't forget to update your student's time zone in the student account!

Do we need a computer before school starts?

All students need a computer & internet access beginning the first day of school and be logged into their student account at 8:00 a.m.

Cell Phones and iPads/Tablets are not recommended as they are not compatible with our platform and will make it difficult to attend class and complete school work.
Our platforms work best using the Google Chrome browser. School computers should have this already installed, but it may need to be set to be the default browser.

Does my student have an MNVA email account?

Yes, all students are assigned an MNVA email account and should access it at least one week before their first day of school.

They can access their MNVA email by logging into the k12 student account: https://login.k12.com/

Please note that your student's designated MNVA email account can only be accessed through their student account.

Student enters account information (username and password) created by learning coach.
1. Please note that password information can only be changed by the learning coach.
2. No one at MNVA or k12 can view or change either the student or the learning coach passwords.
From the student's home screen, click on the envelope icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select Inbox.

Where does my student find their classes and schedule?

Check the linked document to find your student's classes for this school year.
Keep in mind, the detailed class schedule won't show up in OLS/D2L (where the classes and lessons are) until we're closer to the school start date, possibly not even until the end of the first week.
To get a list of your student's classes, use the linked job aid.
High schoolers, if you think there's a mix-up in your assigned classes, feel free to reach out to your counselor (see contact info below).

High School Student Elective Classes

As you and your high school student prepare to start at Minnesota Virtual Academy (MNVA), here is some key info:

We will review your student's previous school transcripts to figure out your credits for graduation.
Our Academic Placement Team will create a schedule based on MNVA requirements and your student's earned credits.

Please click on the links below to view two important attachments:

A k12 placement counselor will call you and your student a week or so before your school start date - it is important to not miss this phone call.

When he or she calls, the student should tell him which electives they are interested in and ask questions.
After this, the course schedule will be finalized.

Missing Materials?

There may be some materials that have not arrived yet, as a few of our families may have backordered materials. It won't be too long, but what do you do for now?

Look ONLINE in the lessons, and you'll find that most lessons will have a digital version of what you need. You may print this out, but you may not need to! Depending on the content, it may be easily converted to a writing or whiteboard task, or done verbally per the lesson directions.

Keep an eye on shipping and tracking, and if your student is in grades K-2, use the resources below to help you.
