I think poverty is the biggest cause of violent crimes because when people are unable to earn for the longest time, they often start getting frustrated. We live in a time where the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer every single day. In a country where economic deprivation is rampant, it is common for people to engage in criminal activities so that they can access their basic necessities.

I agree with Eve because it represents the actuality of the world's situation with a reasonable cause of poverty.

1) Operant conditioning suggests that behaviour is learnt through consequences.
This means that if a crime has been committed, and the offender has been reinforced then he/she would continue behaviour as they have not received a negative consequence. In short, criminal behaviour could be influenced by biological factors such as the PEN score- research shows that a higher score of PEN indicates that the person is more likely a criminal.

2) On one hand, Jack produces factual data gathered from official statistics. He believes that crime rates are high due to lack of funding for social services like: education, health and police. On the other hand, Eve provides an argument highlighting the root causes of violent crime and effective solutions to tackle it.
In conclusion, we believe that they both have reasonable arguments, however, Jack is more believable.
