My biggest takeaway was that self-care does not just mean doing things to help you relax. It also means front loading the hard part, as in setting boundaries, in order to protect your peace of mind in the future.

For me, self-care means drawing a firm boundary that I do not take work home with me and that my time at home is time spent with my kids and doing activities I enjoy. Another thing I do for self-care is to take a break from social media and be outside; I prefer reading by a fire at night in the fall. Saying no has always been a struggle for me, so utilizing it more is another way to protect my peace.
