On the one hand, it is possible to comprehend learners as “complex human beings”, and that social and cultural aspects are relevant to understand how they respond to any language learning process. To my mind, these contributions are important for us teachers in terms of understanding how the students acquire a new language and succeed in different environments.

As we go through these studies, we see that researchers tend to interpret learners as being part of a more complex system in which multilingualism plays a crucial role.  Ellis (2019, p. 5) points out that “language learning acquisition is always open to change”. It is very interesting to notice that language evolves itself as well as the understanding about it. Due to this, teachers can develop lessons and apply activities from different theories which can contribute to their SLA teaching practice.
