From 1 Oct to 20 Nov 2025, the K-Music Festival returns with its most ambitious line-up yet, celebrating the richness and innovation of Korean music like never before!

Highlights include a genre-defying collaboration between Okkyung Lee and Mark Fell, a sweeping orchestral reimagining of JAMBINAI with the London Contemporary Orchestra, and a lyrical meeting of Korean string trio Hilgeum with British vocalist Alice Zawadzki. Acclaimed composer and multi-instrumentalist Park Jiha crafts ambient soundscapes rooted in ancient traditions. Won Il’s Dionysus Robot blends completely new sound, stunning visuals, and drag, while Gray by Silver offers meditative jazz-infused storytelling. The festival closes with a major world premiere: Seong-Jin Cho performs a new concerto by Dong-hoon Shin with the London Symphony Orchestra. From experimental sound art to reimagined traditions, K-Music Festival 2025 celebrates the vibrant future of Korean music.

The Estonian Electronic Music Association Ensemble was founded in 2017. They aim to develop sensitive music making and acute listening by using the rich sonic possibilities of electronic instruments. They have been praised for flexibility and musicality, which is easy to lose in electronic music. Their instrumentation ranges from vintage Buchla and Serge synthesizers to computer-based live electronics. @estonianelectronicmusicsociety

Langham Research Centre started in 2003 with the idea of using a studio as their instrument: microphones and ¼” tape machines. They manipulated sound on tape, focusing on one or a few sound sources. LRC continue to work with obsolete equipment including tape recorders, gramophone cartridges and sine wave oscillators, to perform authentic versions of 20th century electronic repertoire (by Cage, Lucier and others) as well as their own compositions. @langhamresearch

King Monolith is a sound artist, engineer and musician from London, who unites all three disciplines in his sculptural practise. Audience members wear headphones as they watch and listen to the live recording of an audio book. But this isn’t any audio book, it’s a ghost story; and as the recording goes on, the story starts to leave its pages and haunt the studio around you.

There are both Student and Under 30s ticket allocations on every performance.

Jock McFadyen with Jem Finer: Underground (and Surface)' exhibition, launching at Guildhall Art Gallery on 27 February.

This unique exhibition pairs Jock McFadyen’s large-scale Tube station paintings—a revisit of his late-1990s Underground series—with a layered soundscape by Jem Finer of The Pogues, created from field recordings on the Northern and Central lines. Together, image and sound transform familiar stations, signage, and everyday noises into an immersive journey, inviting you to see and hear the Underground in a completely new way.

The exhibition then opens out into a sequence of works, presenting McFadyen’s expansive cityscapes and earlier paintings featuring people. Set above ground, these works offer a striking counterpoint to the enclosed spaces of the subway, shifting the focus from subterranean movement to the broader rhythms and human presence of the city.

Highlights include:

A reimagining of the acclaimed 'Underground' series, first created in the late 1990s and brought into the present through this unique collaboration.

The debut of a newly completed work from McFadyen’s Underground series, shown publicly for the first time.

An immersive soundscape by Jem Finer, using field recordings from the Northern and Central lines to bring the Underground to life.

Large-scale artworks of iconic London locations, from shadowy Underground stations to open, sunlit cityscapes.

Captivating artworks such as 'Bank', 'Ghost' and 'Popular Enclosure', capturing both the intensity and calm of the city.

Each artwork is linked to a specific Tube station, inviting visitors to see London’s transport network - and the city - in a new way.

Admission is Pay What You Can.

https://www.thecityofldn.com/event/jock-mcfadyen-with-jem-finer-underground-and-surface-exhibition/

MUON - Anatomy of Breath, Pt.2 - Fri 27 Feb (Graduates of BA Sound Arts)

Anatomy of Breath is a three-part interdisciplinary performance by MUON (Miles Lukoszevieze and Travis Yu). The second part of the performance is hosted at St. James’ Church Islington, featuring organ, piano, voice and live electronics; extending the same sensibility around movement and sound to a church space.

MUON emerged in 2023 as a duo project of sound artists and musicians Miles Lukoszevieze and Travis Yu, who met during their studies at the London College of Communication. They bonded over their shared passion for all things ambiguous and the in-between. Hugely improvisational, the project explores interconnected avenues of electroacoustic work, noise, and experimental music. Miles’ emotive and dichotomic soundscapes, in conjunction with Travis’ at times visceral, at times ethereal voice, create a rich and hauntingly reverberant atmosphere. As two distinct emerging artists, they challenge, assimilate, and appropriate the norms of sound making across disciplines and genres, to construct a new set of vocabularies for sonic gesturing through music performances.”

Hyper Noise Crystal Image is a composite of live and contingent works encompassing multichannel sound and sculpture. Field recordings from inside the gallery site are recomposed by machine learning in real time, while sculptures shift during the exhibition's duration, proposing a space grounded on the mutable, entangled, and formless.

The exhibition runs from February 18th to March 6th, with listening sessions on February 26th (6-9pm) and 28th (4-6pm), and a closing event on March 6th (6-9pm). There will also be a conversation between Anton Spice and myself on February 22nd (5-7pm). Created in memory of more than one million Indian soldiers who served in the First World War (1914–1918), the work interrogates how these soldiers are remembered—if at all—within imperial histories that reduce their lives to narratives of valour and loyalty to the British Crown.

Doors open at 6pm; talk starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 8pm.

Sound Designer wanted for animation collaboration

My name is Yichun Lu, and I am a third-year Illustration and Visual Media student currently working on my final year project, which is a short experimental digital animation.

The project is based on my personal experience of moving homes many times while growing up. In each new place, I would create small “secret bases” for myself inside the house. Because frequent moving made it difficult for me to form a stable attachment to the idea of home, these hidden spaces became a kind of micro attachment where I could feel a sense of safety and belonging.

The animation will be around one and a half minutes long and explores these intimate spaces through visual experimentation and shifting interior environments. Sound will be very important in shaping the atmosphere of the piece, so I am hoping to collaborate with a Sound Art student who might be interested in creating an original soundscape.

The project is still in progress at the moment, but I would be very happy to share some visuals and a short description if any students might be interested.

Thank you very much for your time, and I would greatly appreciate any help sharing this collaboration opportunity with students in the Sound Art programme.

Best wishes,

Yichun Lu

Yichun Lu <y.lu0320227@arts.ac.uk>

Using storytelling to explore the everyday, familiar and obscure sounds of Hounslow.

Developed in collaboration with the local community, the work invites viewers to listen and tune into the rhythms and tones that shape how we move, connect and remember our environments.

The exhibition unfolds through three interconnected themes emerging as key auditory signals through searching for the sound of Hounslow. Themes related to the landscape, skyscapes, transit, ecosystems and musical heritage, each reflect a different part of the sonic landscape in Hounslow and the way we experience place, movement and belonging.'

CU Dalston, on the 21st of May, at 7pm:

False Locust Presents: Zancudo Berraco / aircode / ex.sses / King Monolith

Very excited to present four artists working in the darkest corners of experimental electronic music, on May 21st, at Cu Dalston. @cu_dalston

Zancudo Berraco is the explosive experimental techno alias of Portuguese multi-instrumentalist Henrique Apolinário. A dedicated sonic explorer, he crafts loud, full-spectrum, and fast-paced live sets designed for pure dance-floor catharsis. @zancudo_berraco

aircode is a Swedish producer based in London whose music is typified by dubwise dynamics, sonic capaciousness, and permutable elements of percussion, voice and piano. They have performed across Europe, and put out records on the labels TT (formerly Tobago Tracks), Takuroko, Alien Jams, Gin&Platonic and NHS along with a number of self-released Bandcamp drops. @_aircode_

ex.sses (she/they) is an experimental producer and DJ. ex.sses fuses heavy bass, broken drums and textural sounds, from her resident shows on Balamii and Netil to her guest mixes for NTS, Kiosk Radio she has built a bass led palette of sounds, unconfined by genre. ex.sses’ ties to experimental sound and club culture have since manifested in releases on TT, BAIT, Traverse, glint, Earful of Wax, Cherche Encore and Hard Return and has premiered on DJ Mag, Mixmag and Bad Tips. These releases have gained attention over the years, resulting in dark, club focused DJ sets across the UK and Europe. Her live electronic performances expand on ex.sses’ exploration of noise, textural sounds, poetry and the gendered body. @ex.sses

King Monolith blends noise, dub and reckless sampling to form a chaotic style of dance music; constantly on the edge of collapse into full blown noise. @a_village_idiot

Instagram Post: https://www.instagram.com/p/DWq3oWYjAke/?img_index=1

Tickets: https://ra.co/events/2409684

Poster by Matej Siska @user_siska

The Bath House, on the 29th of May, at 7pm:

False Locust Presents: Heith / Metaterme (Elvin Brandhi + Emmidio Vasquez) / Ansuman Biswas / Karina Sletten (DJ)

False Locust is proud to present four artists exploring relations between the analogue and the digital, the organic and the synthetic, at The Bath House, on May 29th. @the.bath.house.hw

Heith's music exists where organic and digital elements clash, merge, and transform, evoking both reminiscence and curiosity, the familiar and the alien. His latest album, Escape Lounge (PAN), is a lush, dreamlike work inspired by contemporary digital spirituality and post-informational folklore. The founder of Haunter Records, Heith has collaborated with Puce Mary, Visio, and Kareem Lotfy. On May 5th, Stroom will release Duori, a "5th world music" collaboration with Tarawangsawelas. @heith___

Elvin Brandhi + Emiddio Vasquez = METATERME, a project redefining the sacred in the tempo of the NOW. In their quasi-nomadic practise of creative displacement, they deterritorialise circuits of interference, intersections of influence, and cultural awareness. They make space for nightmares: conditions for the space to dream, unfreezing the limbs of resilience. At the 2024 Venice Biennale's Cyprus Pavilion, with Poncili Creacion, they held an exorcism performance exploring sensory extremes of the sauna. This inspired "curse reverse": group healing through intimacy, empathy, and catharsis. @emmidiately @elvinbrandhi

Ansuman Biswas has an international practice encompassing music, film, live art, installation, writing and theatre. His music spans free improvisation, pop, jazz, and classical musics from around the world, evoking a dip in the Ganges. Underpinning his work is the core discipline of Vipassana, informing his commitment to the primacy of listening, and the fluidity of identity. @ansuman.b

Karina Sletten's DJ sets express her associations with other artists on the bill, showcasing pathways and interests that intertwine a plethora of genres and histories. Her work spans sound art, performance, installation, and relational public practices. @slettenkarina

Poster by Matej Siska @user_siska

Instagram Post: https://www.instagram.com/p/DXO1T9RjAx2/?img_index=1

Tickets: https://ra.co/events/2403587
