I am on Twitter because it is the best place I have found to find

new ideas and keep up to date with issues in education. I am a Secondary

English NQT and find it a very supportive environment where I can ask

questions. I would recommend following @MissJLud - she is a fellow

English NQT and I think she has some fab ideas.

I am on Twitter to listen to as many different views on teaching and learning as possible. I like to try out new things but also want to gain from other people's experience in order to avoid gimmicks and discover what works. There are too many extraordinary people to choose from. Join and then see who you trust. Recommend tuning in to chat sessions and then following the people who make you think (not just those you agree with). If you are open and contribute you will end up being able to ask questions and get answers from people in all sorts of roles and in all sorts of schools. It is literally impossible to achieve access to so diverse and talented a community anywhere else.

I am on twitter because I am a life-long learner and I have realised what a valuable resource twitter is. I have learned more about current issues since being on twitter than ever before. I don't just 'take' though, I share resources I have made in the hope that I can help others as much as I have been helped from it. Twitter has proved a fantastic way to get comments on our class blog and the digital leader network would not have happened, nor been as successful if it weren't for this method of social networking. Lastly, as I am typing I can see two other tweeters, who I have met personally, typing at the same time. Just goes to show what collaboration can do - and the friendships/links that you make. I joined twitter to speak to other teachers who shared the same interest in teaching and learning. What I found was a highly active community, through which I have learned so much. I give to this community too. Some of my favourite tweachers can be found on #rethinkingict #ukedchat #battt as there are too many to name! I wrote a blog post about some of them.

I use twitter to connect with teachers and other educationalists across the world. They show me the things I didn't know that I needed to know. My network of friends online has kept me sane during this, my NQT year, with advice, sympathy, encouragement and wisdom of experience.

I love the swift exchange of teaching ideas. I don't use Facebook and wanted to hate twitter but for teaching...

Amazing! I tend to avoid the political rants on blogs and purely head for the idea exchange!

Only dislike are some the slightly pretentious self-appointed gurus who jump into debates with less than helpful esoteric statements about pedagogy - but just avoid debate!

BEST INSPIRATION for furthering my love of the "science of teaching"

Loads more teacher friends made to share thoughts etc...

Be careful though easily addictive!

I joined twitter to keep up to date with current issues, share ideas and learn from others. I am still relatively new to twitter and enjoy finding and sharing new resources and ideas which can be incorporated into my own teaching and develop CPD and T&L ideas. I find Twitter really exciting when looking for ideas and resources for teaching & learning to share with colleagues. There is always such a range of different

Blog updates, videos, resources etc on different subjects and topics. In one day there can be a really interesting Blog update on measuring progress in lessons to 54 Ways to share lesson objectives.

I am on twitter because it is an incredible resource for all aspects of modern education. With all sorts of posts about general teaching and learning pedagogy, use of new technology in education and ICT/Computer Science Curriculum developments. I find @headguruteacher well worth a follow among a whole host of others but I am more a fan of the hashtags and the hidden gems they can uncover #ictcurric #compsci #edtech #edchat All full of interesting ideas, findings and opinions from actual real life teachers! I'm relatively new to twitter but I love it for all the ideas and tips you can find from other teachers. As an NQT and someone who works in a very small department, twitter allows me to share ideas with like minded professionals. As a result of Twitter and the inspirational individuals within my network I'be set up my own blog which I hope will help others with a passion for creativity and improving teaching and learning. Teachers have taken over Twitter. There are thousands of teachers across the world who everyday are proving that our profession is filled with committed, passionate, hard-working, exceptionally-gifted individuals who care deeply about their craft and the pupils they teach.

Everytime I go on Twitter, I smile to myself about the indisputable proof my tweacher colleagues offer to negative politicians and journalists - the proof that we never stop trying to find and share ways to enhance our classroom practice.

I'm on Twitter because of a fabulous ex-colleague of mine @CaldiesEnglish who told me I was missing out not being on Twitter. She was right! It is the best place for sharing ideas with teachers all over the country and beyond. I'm an AHT responsible for T+L and I am desperate to hear ideas from teachers outside of my school and borough - a fresh perspective. You can't believe how generous teachers are on Twitter - if they can help, they will.

Part of being a teacher is carrying on your own educational journey and I use Twitter to do that. It's not just about stealing teaching ideas, but about debating pedagogy. Love it!

During my studies twitter has given me a wide range of current and historical educational resources, and I feel without it I wouldnt be such a fantastic student! :)

Furthermore, as a prospective teacher I am keen to explore and share my ideas of the possibilities of integrating twitter into the classroom.

I use twitter to monitor learning in a lesson. Pupils tweet summaries of their learning on a shared hashtag every 15 minutes

@Gemmaharvey73 twitter has not only inspired me to take a risk and try new ideas, but has allowed me to share teaching strategies that really work. For my a level groups it has been indispensable, as I get tweet them links, pictures of their hw, and they can get in touch with any questions.

I joined for inspiration and have found the comments, retweets and favorites of my ideas have fed my enthusiasm and encouraged me to keep trying new ideas. It can be addictive though and I definitely go through waves of obsessive blog reading to total absence! but that's what works for me and what's fab about twitter is that is totally acceptable. It's as and when you want it, totally empowering :)
