Me feeling the weight of being pregnant.

Going into clinical with pregnant people as a person who has never been pregnant was scary. I didn't understand fully what it was like to be pregnant. Getting to wear this suit helped me getter a better understand and self-reflected on how it would be for me to have all the weight on my front. It was interesting and taught me why a lot of people in my clinical had back pain.

Having communication during a high-stress environment was important. it was important for the nurse sitting on the stool to lead the group in how to move the legs and to help inform the others if there was a problem and to go get help. working together has improved my learning as well has made me a better nurse.

meeting new students while learning about Ebola was amazing. It is scary entering a major with no friends at first I felt alone but I made friends. Having a space where I could study and have support was important to me as it was good for my well-being. I hope to make more friends in nursing and learn more in a safe judgment-free space.

every nurse should be compassionate

Being compassionate is not for some patients but for all. it can be the difference in a patient getting help or not. The experience of one interaction for a patient can determine if they get help for their health or not.

Cultural competence is crucial for me as a nurse because it enables me and all nurses to provide respectful and individualized care to patients from all diverse backgrounds. It strengthens communication, ensuring that cultural differences are understood and respected, leading to better patient outcomes and overall well-being. overall, cultural competence helps build trust and rapport with patients, fostering a more inclusive and supportive healthcare environment. This means a lot to me as my dad was adopted and he looks different from his parents so people would treat him differently making him feel like he didn't belong. Seeing my dad upset and feeling alone upset me. in my head, my dad is not different but to others, they treated him so, this affected his mental health negatively. I never want what my dad went through happen again.
