Mary Warren switches sides numerous times throughout the play. At first, she was on Abigail's side because she was threatened and afraid of the consequences she would endure if she were to tell. However, later on she confesses to lying about the events that took place because Proctor told her too. Then she renounced her confession and says Proctor made her do it.
