This is something that drew me to him instantly as most of my own upbringing has been in the town of Ballarat and many of my inspirations musically came from the same place. 

The majority of Flansie’s discography is self-produced, which I have always done throughout my career. On a production level, he incorporates electronic dream-like synth production and low-key trap drum programming and sound selection. I use many of his production techniques and this workflow is something I have incorporated into my music as a means of cutting back and that less truly is more. 

Lyrically he is quite melancholic and esoteric as far as "rap" is concerned. He speaks on day-to-day life which is something I feel obligated to do as a rapper in a genre where you open yourself to criticism if you talk about a certain lifestyle that you don't live. With this, I feel I share the same mentality share with Flansie.

I actually found Skepta through knowledge of US rap, he appeared on a cut of an A$AP MOB tape in 2016. I watched many of his classic grime radio freestyles from 14 - 15 years ago. 

His taste in fashion has set the trend for the streets for years, and his influence on me and my style is undeniable, collaborating with NIKE and making his own shoe. I have put this high on my own set of goals, to not be defined as one but as many things. 

He is an artists artist who shows many other skills than just rapping. Skepta has shown himself to be a talented producer, something which I look very fondly upon as this resembles my current situation as a producer/rapper. He also recently has begun DJing and to top it all off he is a painter a platform which I am constantly taking inspiration from.

Classic jazz/boom bap beats with rough and Australian lyrics mixed through a spray paint can.  

They both are truly unique individuals who are very in touch with Graffiti culture and the community around it, showing their creative tendencies manifesting in other areas than music. This shows their rebellious nature which is undeniably relatable to many up-and-coming artists like myself.

If you are seen almost anywhere in Melbourne wearing one of their T-shirts you will hear a very distinct “GET THE MONEY UP!” From across the street, their brand and tagline featuring in many of their songs. One of my dreams has been to have a recognisable brand and consistent merchandise drops are a great way to do so.

An underground US melodic trap icon. Through his industry connections, Flansie made the beat for the hit that is “New Drank” and a few other songs on Lucki’s 2022 album Flawless Like Me. Sonically it is obvious how Flansie is inspired by both Lucki production-wise and lyrically. They share melodic qualities and introspective lyrics about friends who have passed away and drug use as a mechanism of coping. These lyrics can be heard on Lucki’s “No Bap” when he states “real deal junkie and I wish it was an act”. D Double boasts a unique flow and cadence, he also set the standard for experimentation within the genre. Tornts has certified his position as being an inspiration for many Aussie rappers. It is clear that Tornt's influence on Posseshot shows that lyrical imagery and “rebel” graffiti artist sentiment are shared through platforms. Tornts, when speaking to Fazel in his article “The History of Lad Rap” said, “Rap’s pretty rebellious and graffiti’s always been anti-establishment. I guess the base reasons are that they both tell a story”. In the self-produced YouTube documentary “ABOUT THE ART - POSSESHOT (DOCUMENTARY” (2020). Khaniclassic says “Tornts brought us in.. he saw that we had potential he reached out like ‘can you produce this’.. the beats weren't hitting but he saw the vision”. Much resemblance can be seen between Skepta’s stage presence and the wild energy of Jammer one of the originators of the group who took Skepta on board. Skepta when speaking on the Boy Better Know crew on Channel 4 in 2011 said “Jammer man, he's one of the founders of Grime. He's a bit of a mad man. Jammer’s energy and his craziness, he plays a big part in Boy Better Know.”. JME brings a side to Boy Better Know that I think (Boy Better Know) couldn't live without” he later adds “Hes the heartbeat of the crew”. JME began his rap career before Skepta arrived on the scene, Skepta was his brother's DJ and host when he would play shows and performances on pirate radio stations. Skepta learnt many skills of rapping from JME, they learnt much of the craft together. His compassion for his younger brother can be heard in the song Stupid by Skepta featuring Wiley (2006) “Who is it? It’s no you. It's me. The song is most famously known for YEAT's strange autotune vocal takes but most importantly the part where YEAT says the line “This song was already turnt but heres a bell” then Flansie added in classic trap church bell sample which plays throughout the rest of the track.
