“Javert felt something horrible was penetrating his soul, admiration for a convict, Respect for a galley slave, can that be possible? He shuddered at it, yet could not shaken of. It is unusual to struggle, he was reduced confess before his own inner tribunal the sublimity of his wretch. That was hateful,” (Les Miserables, 336).

I think for one part this quote demonstrates pride because he does not want to admit he is starting feeling respect for Jean. His pride is making an inner conflict because he cannot stand what he is starting to think about Jean so he ends up killing himself to no support all the thoughts he has in his head and to not feel conflicted anymore.

“‘Marius!’ cried the old man. ‘Marius! My darling Marius! my child! My dear son! You are opening your eyes, you are looking at me, you are alive, thanks!’” (Les Miserables, 334)

This quote demonstrates gratitude because Marius almost died and he and his grandfather have not talked since year ago, and the last time they talked they had a fight. So, seeing Marius hurt made him realize he would have felt regret if Marius would've died and so he feels so thankful and gratitude towards the fact he did not die.

“ You are a wretch! You are a liar, a slanderer and a scoundrel. You came to accuse this man, you have justified him; you wanted to destroy him, you have succeeded only in glorifying him. And it is you who are an assassin…”(Les Miserables, 389)

This quote shows when Marius found out the truth about everything that happened with Jean and he is defending him from Thenardier, because thenardier is just saying lies about Jean to Marius and like Marius discovered that Jean was the one who saved him, he was defending Jean’s image.

“It was three years since he had left his grandfather. They remained on the same terms on both sides, without attempting reconciliation and without seeking to meet. And, indeed, what was the use of meeting? To come in conflict?,”(Pg 185).

This text demonstrates that Marius nor his grandfather have talked to each other after the fight they had. They still demonstrate great resentment towards each other and i do not think this will pass soon. His grandfather got hurt because Marius defended his father and he standed in his opinion while the grandfather hated Marius's father.

He will be thrown out in the street and will be very miserable and will have no home.

He knew that by saying his opinion something will happen and he ended up leaving that house and he grandfather ended with wanting to know nothing about him.

Also, Maruis thought Jean assassinated Javert.

Thanks to him, she could walk upright in life; thanks to her, he could persist in virtuous deeds…” (Les Miserables 125)

This quote relates with love because it demonstrates how Jean will change and changes because of his love and affection towards cossette. Cosette changed him for better and he is starting to love her and cherish her.

The only thing that stopped him was the love that he has for cossette.

“You need not to tell me who you are. This is not my house; it is the house of Christ. It does not ask any comer whether it has a name, but whether he has an affliction. You suffer, you are hungry and thirsty; you are welcome. And do not thank me; do not say that I receive you in my house. This is the home of no man, except the man who needs a asylum. I tell you, who are a traveller, that you are more at home here than i:; whatever is here is yours. What need have I to know your name? Besides, before you told me tolde me i already knew,” ( Les Miserables, 19)

As it can be observed in the quote, the bishop had no doubts in letting a convict into his home and making him feel welcome. He also explains that it is no his home, it is God’s home, and by saying that it demonstrates that in God’s home everyone is welcomed and forgiven..
