Focus: having standards annotated for which ones are major clusters, supporting clusters, and additional clusters helps teachers prioritize when lesson plannings and keeps them from getting overwhelmed with the amount of content covered by the standards. The shift in focus also lends itself very easily to scaffolding skills both within and across grade-levels.

Rigor: This gives students ownership over their education and skill mastery and helps avoid the consequences/implications of the statistics we've been seeing where a majority of students receive A's and B's but only 17% have skill mastery. It shifts learning from the idea of complying in order to make the grade to skills based learning that involves exploration and growth.
