He is a 12 year old basketball player, that has a twin brother named JB.  He is also the son of a famous Italian league basketball player.

JB:  JB is Josh's twin brother.  He is also a 12 basketball player and also is the son of a famous basketball player. He does a ton with Josh but then starts to separate himself from him and this causes the main conflict in the book.

Mr. Bell: Mr. Bell is Josh and JB's dad. He played professional basketball in the Italian league. Mr. Bell is the boys motivation during the book and he really helps them become better basketball players.

Dr. Bell: Dr. Bell is Josh and JB's mother. Dr. Bell is the assistant principle at JB's and Josh's school. She goes to every basketball game even thought she doesn't like it and is a loving caring mother for her boys.

  • You can gain from a loss.
    • Evidence: In the end Filthy and JB loose something very important to both of them and are able to gain from the loss.
         2. Family is most important.
    Evidence:  In the book JB starts to separate from his brother by spending more time with other people and doesn't realize his priorities aren't in line until the end of the book.
          3. Don't let your fears control you.
    Evidence: (Doing my best not to spoil the book). Mr. Bell has a fear that he lets control his life and the results are impacting.
