There are logical reasons why obesity a life choice not a disease. From the 1960's to now, work such as simply as washing a car had become easier and easier, meaning less physical activity is needed to complete these tasks. Today 80% of all jobs have no physical activity involved in them. As a result, less and less physical work is needed, so more and more people are becoming over weight. We should make time for more physical activities to avoid this. In 2009-2010, the average 30 to 39-year-old woman consumed 1,831 calories, while men of the same age consumed an average 2,736 per day. These are both over the recommended daily value. Since people are eating more than the recommended amount of calories, too many people are becoming obese. We should watch out for how much calories we consume in a day to stay healthy. A person with an extreme obesity can have their life span cut down by 10 years. A 2016 Lancet meta-study found that even moderate obesity can lead to a sooner death. It shows that, the average obese adults life spanned is cut down to 3 to 10 full years in life. We should be more self-aware about our health, for we could be putting our lives at risk just from the foods we eat. Obesity is becoming greatly common due to people physically working less and eating more. Because of this, life expectancy has went down. Since fewer people are exercising, many people are seeing a lower life expectancy for those who are obese.

Obesity can affect many people in an emotional way. Obesity can determine many factors in giving birth. If the woman is overweight, it may take longer for them to conceive the child. Then they do conceive the child, there could be health complications with it. Since obesity can cause hormonal imbalance, the baby could be negatively affected and could even die from it. People should consider this for their future child. The man and woman should highly consider adopting a healthier eating diet along with getting a regular exercise plan. Every pound makes a difference. Since weight can affect pregnancy, many people should adopted healthier habits in order to be able to conceive a healthy baby. Furthermore, if a mother is obese, it can increase the chances of problems at birth, like, miscarriage, hypertension, or stillbirth. People shouldn't let this happen and should try and get into shape before trying for a baby. Since obese people are less successful in conceiving a healthy child, more people who plan to be parents should worry about their health.

There are many ethical reasons that show why obesity is not a disease and is seen by many people as a life style. Like many harmful addictions, obesity is a preventable risk factors for diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol. Since other addictions can be quit, that means obesity is also avoidable. We should consider this idea when either trying to get into shape or when we are helping someone who needs help. To add on to that, obesity can be caused by many different syndromes and drugs which have the side effect of making the person affected by them have an overwhelming urge to eat. Since obesity can be caused by many syndromes and drugs, we should consider this when we are assessing someone who is overweight in order to help the person overcome it. Also, the percent of obesity has spread across every nation. This is due from processed foods and sugared based products. The long term effects of obesity can be related to some deadly diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Since processed food is becoming a high demand all over the world, a greater amount of the human population is becoming supersized. We should begin to become concerned with what we and others are eating. Obesity is not a disease.

Many people believe that obesity is considered a genetic disorder because it is linked to various diseases and health problems. my research shows that "Studies have shown that obesity can be inherited like height" (ProCon.org). However, this is far from the case. While obesity can be inherited like some syndromes it can cause one to feel the overwhelming need to eat. Inheriting the trait for obesity does not necessarily mean that this problem cannot be resolved. Even though you can still inherit these syndromes, you don't need to eat when you feel the need to. Some methods of preventing overeating is by sticking to a strict diet, get a food tracker, find an activity to take your mind off it. There are many methods of having a healthy eating habit without over eating.
