While I find this to be a silly photo, it shows my roommate, GM, standing over me with a shark on her hand and me lying on the floor playing dead. I chose this photo because throughout the interview process and while GM was telling me about her trauma, I felt so much sadness and grief for her and her loss of childhood. We also took this photo in the children's toy aisle which I find pretty fitting to talking about her childhood. When picking my individual for my interview and hearing GM tell me her story, I felt a wave of emotions hit me, specifically sadness and anger. At one point during the interview, I put myself in her shoes and I could only imagine how she felt as a little child. This photo of Lila showed her mid-yawn, but it looks like she's crying and screaming. When GM was telling me examples of times they realized she was grieving, I felt like I wanted to cry but also get angry at the people who treated her so wrongly. Similarly, when I had asked my roommate to tell me about how she felt during the period she was grieving, she told me that she had so many negative thoughts about herself and how she struggled with body image and it made me so sad to think that she was struggling with these thoughts at such a young age and as much as I wanted to tell her otherwise and that she was more that what her trauma was, I remembered that I needed to give her a space to speak about her trauma and what she felt.]]> 2023-09-25 08:20:18 UTC https://padlet.com/malcampo25/9z45kz9jg32votk/wish/2718926631
