I think art integration means that it is a responsiblility of the teacher to incorporate the arts into their classroom. Consequently, the art integration is dependent upon the teacher's willingness to use class time for art activities, whether they be visual arts, music, dance, or more. In my future classroom I hope to incorporate the arts everyday. It is very important to me that every student feels they are able to explore the curiousities about the arts in my classroom.

I believe that art integration means integrating creative outlooks into everyday lessons. All throughout school children are taught that in order to succeed they must be good at math, reading, or science but what if they don't want to go that route? What if playing an instrument or painting a picture is what they want to do, it's what their destined to do? By limited students to three subjects that we claim as "important" we are telling our students that what they love or what they're good at is unimportant.

In my opinion "arts integration" refers to the idea that different styles of art (ballet, jazz, painting, drawing, theatre, music, singing) should be included in the classroom, both as independent subjects and within the core classes. Bringing arts into the classroom provides students with a much more holistic education that opens their view into various paths of life that they can enjoy either as a career, as a hobby, a learner or a spectator. It is important for teachers to bring all of these aspects of life into the classroom so that their students have the chance to expand their knowledge and their world view. I hope that I will be able to create a balanced environment in my classroom in which the arts are as appreciated and valued as core subjects such as math and reading. As a piano player myself, I am a firm believer that the arts are a key part of one's education.

For me personally, arts integration is a huge part of the classroom (and my future classroom). Arts integration is sometimes the balance for students to focus on the rest of what you are teaching your students. For me, I loved the arts world when I was a student. I loved going to art, music, etc, and they were the best part of my day. Getting a break with these types of arts made me ready to come back to my classroom ready to learn. If the teacher then brought music or art or etc into our lessons in class then I was definitely more into the lesson then before. It is very important to keep arts integration in the classroom for those students who are more an art smart then a book smart.

HG

To me "art integration" means to incorporate all different types of arts in the classroom. For example: singing, instrument playing, acting, dancing and drawing. It is very important to integrate the arts into classrooms especially at the elementary age. Kids need a creative way to express themselves and the arts are a great way for them to do so. For my future classroom art will be a huge part of it. I want all of my students to feel like they have the opportunity to express themselves whether its through core curriculum like math or science or through art.

Based on my opinion I believe "arts integration" refers to the incorporation of the arts into elementary classrooms. Over the years I feel admiration for fine arts has been lost and creativity within the classroom is in need of improvement. Therefore, as education progresses, elements such as music, dance, visual art and much more need to be continuously integrated into the lives of students. In terms of my future classroom, I want to make sure to address the needs of arts integration and allow my students to explore the creativity that comes with the subject matter.

-JS

Arts integration to me is just pushing art into everything that I am doing. Arts can be taught in every other subject in who many different ways. Music, art, theatre, etc. can all be used in literature, science, math, everything. It's so versatile and flexible. For me, this means taking what I know from classes and what my students are learning in arts classes and putting them together in every day learning so that students can see all of their classes working together.
-SE
