You can see this character taking over all the wedding preparations and of course the clothes that all the characters are wearing. 
The surprising thing was that I could not find or think of a character who is more realistic and does not abide to these stereotypes in films. It seems that this character is selected and depicted in this way in films.

The first shot is from the classic Zeffirelli film version and the second is a more modern BBC adaptation. At the start of this activity, before really considering the issue, I assumed the BBC version was a stereotype breaker. You have the hat, the neckerchief, the collared buttoned shirt, the trousers and boots. Compare it with a modern cowboy: Brady Jondreau in the film 'The Rider', a semi-autobiographical film about his recovery from a severe head injury and how it affects his love for riding and rodeos. In many ways, they look similar: the hat, the shirt, the neckerchief, although Brad is wearing jeans and that in itself seems a common stereotype nowadays. If you were doing an amateur production of something with cowboys, they would probably get some characters wearing jeans.
