my current AT encouraged me to practice my comfort and ability with using math and literacy diagnostics by having me work one on one with students. being able to complete these diagnostics on my own, and having her support and confidence also gave me a chance to connect with students.

In first yr, my lab school AT led an inquiry based learning classroom and regularly incorporated student ideas into her practice, but also she often integrated practicum ideas from the work of myself and the second yr intern into her planning, which I found that added to my sense of value and confidence in my everyday experiences there.

My first year ATs were both amazing at giving me opportunities to ask questions one-on-one, planning time where it was just the two of us to discuss how things were going and getting constructive feedback. They also made me feel like I can ask any question, and that no question is silly. It helped me learn so much, just having that environment where I felt comfortable and safe to ask about anything. :)

My AT has taught me so many wonderful things. One thing that has really enhanced my learning has been the organizational skills she has provided me with. At the beginning of each week, I now write out all of the lessons I will be teaching, what materials will be needed, and how the lessons can be accommodated to fit the needs of our students.
