Which makes perfect sense with the title. Miss Moore seems like a pretty good woman to have around a bunch of kids, to teach them the meaning of money and how/what to appreciate. I think the theme is to listen and absorb what an educated adult has to teach. The Author describes a bunch of characters which gives the story a lot of life. It shows how most of them are immature and non-obedient. The setting seems to be in New York I think and not too early in time since they rode in a cab and talked about the subway. This must have been a memory that she has never forgotten, obviously because she wrote about it.
