BF: Edwards uses a LOT of repetition, and he does it with a lot of passion. I saw the word wrath used eight times in the span of just one paragraph. He also talks a lot about God's hand as something that is keeping the sinners from descending to hell. He continually repeats these things to reinforce his ideas (over the course of 6 hours). He wants to put the picture of God's hand letting loose and dropping the sinners into hell into the heads of those he is speaking to.

His diction is dark, almost Gothic. He uses alliteration, to describe how weak we are compared to god. "...ten thousand times greater than the strength of the stoutest, sturdiest devil in Hell, it would be nothing to withstand or endure it." It is referring to the wrath of god, and how nothing on Earth will save us from his wrath.

For example, at the beginning of the 5th paragraph of the excerpt he says: "The bow of God's wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends the arrow at your heart..." I'm not too sure about the effect it has on the audience/reader.
