Well, it doesn't respond. The Zika virus moves right past your immune systems' reach, and goes straight to your brain. Your immune system doesn't respond until later. This shows Zika is a very complex virus, because your immune system can recognize and memorize over 200 foreign invaders.

The zika virus started in the East African nation of Uganda, and today is known as the most common disease in Brazil. It spreads from the Aedes mosquito. If you have the zika virus, you will most likely experience symptoms such as a rash, red eyes, a fever and joint pain. One reason people don't what to get Zika is because if you are pregnant then your baby might end up being deformed due to microcephaly, a condition caused by insufficient brain growth. Even if your husband has it you can get it because it can also be a sexualy transmited disease.

You can prevent the zika virus by applying the proper bug spray (Deet, IR3535) You should also stay indoors and wear proper clothing when traveling to countries with a lot of cases of the Zika virus. Countries/continents include all of South and Central America, half of Africa, India, and other Asian countries. There are also cases of Zika in Australia.

If you have Zika, there is no cure or effective vaccine, but there are still treatments for the symptoms, and you can still take painkillers/medicine. When you have Zika, you should always stay hydrated and get lots of rest. The virus lasts about 2-7 days.
