Religious beliefs can build values such as behavior, sense of identity, development and world view. It could give you the opportunity to build stability, but not only that it could cause confusion or conflict.

Sexual orientation

Children who identify as something different than what they were born as may face crucial challenges. They could also face bullying and have major health issues.

Gender identity

Children questioning or going out of their comfort zone from their identity may deal with exclusion or not being able to access certain events

Culture

Cultural background comes with language, traditions, and new ways of learning, this best supports schools and the impact of that.

Family Unit

The ways a family, whether it is single parent, foster or even parents with same gender, has an influence on emotional support and development.

Reflection: This section talked a lot about treating people with respect and helping them fit in. Respect is very important when coming across people who are struggling with being part of a new community.

Ex: A teacher will call on a boy in math class because of a subconscious belief that boys are stronger in math.

Cultural competence is the ability to understand and talk to people from other backgrounds and belief systems

Ex. Teachers incorporate holidays and languages from different countries into the lesson to help students learn more diverse and more thoroughly.

Reflection: These 2 are very strongly used, implicit bias tends to be used to much and should be decreased and looked over more. While cultural competence is used positively and is great for teachers to use to help develop kids learning.

Ex- Attending workshops around you that have interactions in your community

5. Adapting to the cultural needs of the community

Def- Editing curriculum, and the classroom practices based on the outcome
