The regions that receive the most funding for malaria are The Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, Nigeria, Benin, Niger, Mali, Sierra Leone, Mali, South Sudan, Indonesia and India. These funds go toward providing malaria diagnosis, treatment, control and prevention. The United States and United Kingdom are not among those that receive the most funding from the malaria global fund. Rather, they are the countries that donate the most. In return, the two top contributing countries gain positive political and diplomatic relations with the recipients of the donations. The U.S and U.K. benefit from donating to the malaria global fund by strengthening their alliances with these countries. Furthermore, they can advance their economic interests and create opportunities for more international trade markets. All countries involved gain in the end, not just the country receiving the funding.

Funding towards infectious diseases like malaria can greatly increase global and public health in regions that are affected by this disease. Policies and diplomacy are crucial tools that can be used to help combat against malaria. Funding is crucial in order to implement the proper preventative programs, education, and treatment towards malaria. Furthermore, when countries like the U.S. and U.K. donate to such causes, they are indirectly increasing the public health of their nations. Global health issues can indirectly or directly affect the health of citizens in the U.S. and U.K. Outbreaks of infectious diseases, foodborne illnesses, etc., cannot only spread from country to country, but also impact trade and travel. The U.S. and U.K. can also learn from the experiences of other countries.
