I used a lot of the darker pencils, 2B - 6B to create darker stripes for the tiger. I drew my image because tigers are naturally majestic animals who are regarded usually in high praise, similar to lions. The positioning of the tiger was interesting and it was a good clean picture overall.

For blending this piece, I used multiple colored pencils in creating pinks and orange in the picture. When I was originally drawing the trees, I separated them based off of the ground (inside of the sphere). This creates a dark and lighter impact.

Charcoal still life on toned paper

During this process, the use of the charcoal pencils helped create a dark and light contrast while on the neutral grays of the actual page. I liked the idea of using colored (toned) paper because it makes a good base color for additional layers. When I was drawing the feather I really enjoyed how the colors blended (even though I was not a fan of all of the smudges).

One Point Perspective Room

I had difficulties with shading the piece mostly because I didn’t find a good balance with lights and darks. I also (like always) struggled with keeping the paper clean without the fuzzy image. Using the vanishing point was relatively easy but the measurement and straight lines confused me at times. (I also made the room way too complex).

Impressionism Chalk Pastel Drawing

I actually enjoyed the project (Minus the pastel getting stuck on my nails and what not) but I liked the overall concept and idea of the artwork we created. Using pastels seriously was a first for me and the idea of quick strokes on the page was a bit tiring, but the end product (in my opinion) looks really nice. I would like to further explore with pastels and chalks in the near future to obtain a better grasp at using this type of medium. I accidentally layered too many colors that strayed from white so when I was making the wave, I struggled to create a bigger contrast between shades of white to a blue-esque grey.

Pen & Ink Drawing

Overall I liked the idea of using pens and ink but creating small lines to cover a large portion is difficult. I struggled with proportions and extending the body of the leopard (THE EYES). I liked my subject but the photo was a bit blurry so if I had the chance to redo it (small marks and all) I would definitely pick a new topic.

(Sorry the one inch border I cut off, I didn’t want to include the table)

I chose my picture because of the position and dress the woman was in. I liked the colors of the dress (even though I did not color it) and the curls of the material and how her hair was draped across her shoulder. As for my pattern I was drawn at first by the original orange color, and then how the swirls cocooned each other. I enjoyed making his piece but I did struggle with lights and darks and finding a good equilibrium.
