Let me describe the picture called 'Cafe Terrace at Night', which is actually a painting by Vincent Van Gogh. It was painted in 1888, but it's still one of his world-famous works. This painting illustrates an evening scene of the 19th century and shows us people having leisure time in a cozy cafe. Well, in the foreground there's the bright terrace of the cafe. I can see some people chatting or just having dinner. Judging by their clothes I can say it's a bit cold. In the distance I can just see other dwellers walking down the street. It looks as if they're enjoying their evening walk. In the background there's that mysterious darkness of the houses and the sky. If you have a look at it, you'll immediately get amazed by how stunning it is! By the way, there're lots of stars on the sky, so it's going to be a starry night in the town. When I look at this picture I feel kind of romantic because of the mixture of bright and dark colours, which makes the night so mysterious. It seems as if I'm in fairy tale. This painting also makes me want to have a chat with a close friend in one of such cozy terraces. Finally, it's the wonderful dark sky. It's so deep that when I stare at it, I feel calm and relaxed.
Anastasia Utkina

Let me describe the painting called "Bogatyri" made by Victor Vasnetsov in 1898. Well, the picture illustrates a field and three men straddling on the horses. Judging by their helmets and armour I can say that they are warriors. The man on the left-hand side is holding a sword. The warrior in the middle has a spear. The man on the right-hand side is holding a bow. Judging by his look and the fact that he is straddling on the smallest horse, I can say that he is probably the youngest warrior among them. In the foreground in the bottom you can also see some pine trees. In the distance you can see huge forests and fields. Besides, you can see an eagle and judging by it I can say that the warriors are staying quite high, maybe on a hill. What is more, in the top of the painting you can see grey clouds and it makes me think that it is going to rain. Actually, the picture is made in dark colours and the sun isn't shining, so it makes feel a bit uncomfortable. Moreover, the men are thoughtfully looking somewhere and we can sense their tension and seriousness.
Andrey Mironov

Let me describe the painting which is called " A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of la Grande Jatte". It was painted by Georges Seurat in 1886. More than that, it's his most famous work. The painting illustrates a typical scene of 19th-century leisure in one of summer's days. Well, in the foreground I can see a few people Who are trying to escape of the heat in the shade. Some of them are sitting on the bank of the river and some of them are standing on the grass. They're ignoring each other and just looking at the river. Judging by the people's satisfied faces I can say that all people are happy to be there and relaxing in the sunshine. In the bottom left corner I can see a small puppy and a monkey. Both of them are standing near the women wearing a fluffy dress. There's a black dog standing near its owner and trying to find something in the middle of the painting. In the distance I can see a lot of people that are busy with thier business. On the left-hand side there're many white boats. In the background I can see a forest with tall green trees. So, I can sense the warmth of the summer's day not only in the bright sunlight, light colours and shadows, but also in colourful clothes which are worn by all people and umbrellas from the sun which are painted.

Let me describe a picture by a Russian artist Vasiliy Puckirev called "The unequal marriage". It was created in 1866 and it`s the first and the most famous work of him. The picture illustrates the process of marriage in a church. To begin with,in the foreground we can see a young beautiful woman in a white dress. She is a bride but her face shows sadeness. There is an old man behind her. He is a groom. Judging by his arrogant expression, it`s easy to say that he is not in love and ,of course, judjing by his clothers, he is rich. Also, in the bottom left-hand corner we see the priest. He is holding out a golden ring to the bride. So, in the middle there is the most important part of the picture- the will-less hand and the ring... In the distance there are 7 men. Judging by their faces, they are not happy of the marriage ceremony. What is more, on the right-hand side is the hidden self-portrait of Vasiliy Puckirev. By this picture he described a story of the woman he loved. This picture creates the atmosphere of sadeness and sorrow. There are not any happy faces, this story is not about love. This picture isn`t colourful or bright, it`s rather dark and gloomy. To tell the truth, "The unequal marriage" awakes the feelinf of sadeness and disgust in every person watching it.

Daria Dranichniko
va

"Girl with peaches" by Valentin Serov

Today I wanna give a brief description of a painting, created by Valentin Serov, which is called "Girl with peaches". Actually, this masterpiece was painted in the summer of 1887 and it is still considered to be a brilliant example of impressionism in art. Well, this painting illustrates Vera Mamontova, who was a daughter of a famous patron of arts. She is sitting at the table in the foreground, holding a peach in her hand. She is dressed in a pale pink blouse with a navy blue ribbon. The girl's appearance appeals to me a lot. She is dark-haired and her skin is sun-tanned. Also, she has soft facial features, bright eyes and slightly blushed cheeks. To my mind, Vera looks very charming and tender but she is still full of energy and spreads happiness around herself. Apparently, Serov had very impressive artistic skills, because Vera's portrait is very lifelike. In the background I can see a spacious living room, filled with some furniture, particularly, with wooden chairs. What is more, in the top left-hand corner the wall is decorated with a nice-looking vintage item. On the right-hand side there is a big square window. The light pours in through the window and the sunbeams illuminate the room. Judging by the tree leaves, which are actually yellow, I can say that it is early fall. Speaking about other details, there is a knife, some maple leaves and a few peaches on the table. It seems as if a girl is just going to have a light snack. The painting is created in muted and light colors, which probably symbolize harmony and purity. So, I can sense the warmth and calmness of the atmosphere. When I look at the painting, I escape from my daily frustrations and feel nothing but positive emotions.
Nastya Durova

"Young painter" by Ivan Firsov

I'd like to describe the picture called "Young painter" created in 1768 by the artist Ivan Firsov. Despite its scene is quite simple and represents the life of ordinary people the painting became one of the best-known masterpieces in Russia. So this picture illustrates a quite dark room with 3 people in it. The main light, coming through the window on the left-hand side of the painting, draws attention to the most important elements, ignoring some details hidden in the dark. That's why the first thing we see in the foreground is the boy sitting in front of an easel and creating some piece of art. His pose seems relaxed but judging by his face I can say that he is really concentrated and passionate about his work. Behind the easel in some distance we can see a girl sitting on the chair with her mom standing nearby. The bright colourful dresses say that both ladies are quite wealthy and that's why they asked for a painting. I believe, the girl is a bit impatient and want to go away, however, her mom is forcing her to sit for the painting. Nevertheless, I'm sure that the woman loves her doughter very much as her right arm is put around the girl's neck. As for the secondary details, in the background of the picture we can see a mannequin, a white female bust and 2 paintings on the wall. Judging by them and the box with a few paints, lying on the floor in the bottom right-hand corner, I may assume that this room is owned by an artist who might be the parent of the boy we can see in the picture. Actually, this painting is made with warm and bright colours which create a really positive mood. Personally, I can even sense the warmth and calmness of the atmosphere there. Apart from that, I'm also inspired by the maturity of the young painter. His creation in the middle of the painting is definitely fantastic and proves that not only adults can have a genius talent.
Anna Semakina

I'd like to desribe a magical picture by Vincent Van Gogh called 'Starry Night Over the Rhone'. This picture was created in 1888 and is still thought to be one of the greatest pieces of art.
The picture illustrates us a calm night by the river shore. In the foreground, we can see a man and a woman walking hand in hand, so it gives this painting a romantic and peaceful vibe. I believe that these people are very happy walking together as they seem to be very quiet and slow, so maybe they're just enjoying the view. In the background, we can see a sky full of bright stars and a big river covered with their reflections. These stars and their reflections hypnotize us by their beauty and make us fall in love. In a distance we can see some houses, so it helps us to understand that this place is not so far from the city. By the way, in the middle of the painting we can see a boat covered with some kind of blanket. I reckon that this boat belongs to a fisherman, who went to sleep after a long day at the sea and left his boat exactly where he leaves it every single night. This painting makes us sense the mystery and magic of the night and tries to make us very relaxed. The colours used in this painting are really soft and the lines are flowing .
To conclude, I'd like to say that this painting has a special atmosphere and makes me feel cozy and happy, so that's not a secret why it is one of my favourite painings ever made.

Victoria Ivanova

I would like to make the discription of a well-known painting "The horsewoman" which was created in 1832. To begin with, this painting is a portrait which belongs to the brush of the famous Russian artist Karl Brullov. This painter lived in the 18-19th centuries and mostly worked in the style known as Classicism. To my mind, this is a lifelike and quite a lyrical picture, which shows a horsewoman on a darkhorse. There is also a young girl looking at them absolutely amazed.
This beautiful picture is painted in warm, deep colours, which contrast very well. The dominating colors are white, dark green and brown, light yellow and black. The space of the picture is symmetricaly divided into two parts by the column and the horse's head and body.
In the center of the painting we can see a pretty woman astride, who is holding harness in her hands. She is wearing a blue and white long dress with puff sleeves and a wide collar. On her head we can see a small green hat decorated with feathers, which looks amazing togerther with her long curly brown hair and fair complection. On the right there stands a girl, who is probably the horsewomans sister. She is also dressed as a noblewoman- a long pink dress and pantaloons. Near her we also can see a hound with white body and grey head.
In the background there is a part of their house and a park. They both are richly decorated which means that the ladies are from a wealthy family. At first glance, the painting looks depressing because of its colors, but if you look closely, you can see the family and feel relaxing atmosphere of the place.
The girls might be saying goodbye to each other, as the eldest one is going to go to the city or just enjoy the horseriding.
Well, I feel that I am unable to put into words my emotions about this impressive painting. So the only thing left is just to enjoy the masterpiece by Karl Brullov.

Maria Gamova

I would like to describe this incredibly beautiful painting 'Ophelia',painted in 1852. To begin with, this painting is a literary painting which belongs to the brush of John Everett Millais. This artist lived in the nineteenth century and worked in the style known as Picturesque. Now let's turn to the painting itself. To my mind, it is a lyrical and heart-breaking picture, which shows the death of Ophelia, a scene from Shakespeare's play Hamlet. Traumatised when her lover Hamlet accidentally kills her father, she allows herself to fall into a stream and drown. The background of the picture is painted in mostly warm colours which greatly contrast with soft colours used on a depicted woman. Her white dress marks her upcoming death. We should also pay special attention to her pose: she is lying with her hands opened. It can be seen as a crucifixion of Christ, which also refers us to death motives. There aren't any emotions on Ophelia's face. She is feeling nothing and is ready to pass away in the contrast with the flourishing nature. It looks like time has stopped. The artist skilfully managed to capture the moment between life and death. It seems to me that I couldn't put into words the impression made on me by this painting, but I can truly admit that it is a gorgeous masterpiece by an incredibly talented artist, whose works will continuously live in many people's hearts.

Grigory Anashkin

I'd like to describe the astonishing painting "American Gothic" that was created in 1930. To begin with, this painting is a portrait which belongs to the brush of Grant Wood. This artist lived in 20th century and worked in the style known as American Regionalism, he is best known for his paintings depicting the rural American Midwest. To my mind, it is a lifelike and outstanding picture , which shows a farmer standing beside his daughter – often mistakenly assumed to be his wife. The picture is painted in warm colours. The dominating ones are black, beige and blue that contrast very well. The space in the picture is symmetrically divided. In the middle of the painting we can see a couple of villagers. The woman is dressed in an apron evoking 20th-century rural Americana while the man is covered by a suit jacket and carries a pitchfork that is representing manual labour. The artist managed to capture ambivalent facial expressions. They appear to suggest a stoic and rather joyless life, leavened only by a pinch of Biblical evangelism. In the background there is a a small white house built in the Carpenter Gothic style. It looks as if the man is serious and stern but, unlike his daughter, is more dominant and direct, looking the viewer right in the eye.
To my mind, it is a masterpiece that could stand the test of time.
"The Persistence of Memory" by Salvador Dali

I would like to describe the beautiful masterpiece "The Persistence of Memory" by Salvador Dali. It is considered one of the most significant and well-known paintings of all times. Better known under the name "Soft watches", the painting is so impressive, that even children and people far from art have seen it at least once in a lifetime. The artist, Salvador Dali, is a 20th century Spanish artist, who is famous for his creation of modern style of art called "surrealism" and outstanding personality. To my mind, it's a strange and unique painting, which meaning is not fully understandable for ordinary people. It depicts the three types of clock, but all of them are soft and almost fluid. The painting is asymmetrical, with no defined center. In the background, we can see yellow cliffs which meet the ocean, and if you look closely, you can also notice a small white egg – the symbol of new life, which was widely used by Salvador in almost all of his paintings. In the center of the picture there lies a strange and scary creature with long eyelashes and closed eyes. This is actually a self-portrait of the artist, which was also common for Salvador. Three of the soft watches represent present, past and future. The clock-present is located closer to the Dali's face, the clock-past hangs on a fragile branch of an old olive and the clock-future is on the edge of the table. It symbolizes the transience of time and our powerlessness against it. Actually, I can't put into words how I feel looking at this painting. It captures your eye from the first glance and makes you think about your life in a way you have never thought of before. Overall, this is the masterpice that could stand the test of time.

Aleksandra Belousova

Let me describe the picture called 'The Swing'. It was painted in 1767, but it is still one of the most world-famous works. This picture is a portrait which belongs to the brush of the Jean-Honoré Fragonard. The painter lived in France and mostly worked in the styles know as Romanticism and Realism. To my mind, it is a romantic picture, which shows a woman and her lover. The picture is painted in bright and dark colours. The dominating colours are blue and green, which make us aware of the depth of the garden. These colours contrast very well. The space of the picture is asymmetrically devided. In the centre of the painting there is a young woman enjoying a swing and wearing a pink satin gown. The swing being pushed by a man sitting on the right edge of the scence. In the lower-left corner, we can see a man, resting his body on his right elbow as he look at his mistress. In the background there is a picturesque garden. It looks like they are pleasantly spend time together. The artist managed to capture the atmosphere of love. Well, it seems to me that i could not put into words the impression that made on me by this painting.

I would like to describe a masterpiece "A dangerous Lesson". The painting was created by the Polish artist Heinrich Semiradsky in 1886. The artist live in the 19-20th centuries and mostly famous for writing large-scale paintings on ancient and biblical scenes. To begin with, this painting is an antique genre scene that illustrates a young family and a southern landscape. To my mind, it is impressive and colorful picture. The painting is painted in light and warm colors. The dominating colors are blue, green and white. The colors contrast with each other. The space of the painting is asymmetrically divided . In the foreground on the left-hand side of the painting we can see a marble bench with griffins. A young woman and a man are sitting on a bench holding a bow in their hands. A woman is wearing a pink long dress. The man is wearing a yellow shirt and red shoes. There is a little boy next to them. He is dressed in blue clothes and holding a bow in his hands. Opposite him there is a target with an image of the head of the Medusa-Gorgon . In the background we can see trees and mountains illuminated by the sun. The artist manage to capture the atmosphere of ancient times. Judging by the boy, shooting is only harmless entertainment for him, but the meaning of the upcoming danger and the imminent battle can be laid in the details of the picture. Well, I fell that I am unable to put into words what I feel looking at the painting.
Alina Maslenikova

Saveliy Shutoff
Let me describe this amazing masterpiece "The Duel After the Masquerade" which belongs to the brash of Jean-Leon Gerome. He was a French painter and sculptor in the style now known as academicism. To my mind it's a colourful and lyrical picture, which shows the end of a duel after a costume ball. Jean-Leon masterly focuses on the tragic component of the theme. Part of the painting with the dying Pierrot is painted with bright colors and a diverse palette, while everything else is painted with gray hues, to emphasize the drama. The space of the picture is symmetrically divided on two parts - the right side depicting the winner, and the left one being the loser’s side. On the left we can see a young man wearing a masquerade costume gets defeated by the opponent's sword; he is now lying on the arms of his comrades. On the right we can notice that the victor does not manage to leave the battlefield unharmed – having left his sword on the snow, he walks, limping, and leaning on the comrade’s hand. They retire to somewhere. In the distance we can see a waiting carriage and people walking. In my opinion painter wanted to show us the spirit of the tragic consequences of the duels of the nineteenth century. In fact author provides us the chance to restore the scene of the battle in our imagination, based on the consequences we saw. That is why the center of the painting is free, with only a cloak and a sword indicating that a bloody fight took place here. Well, I fell that I am unable to put into words what I feel looking at the painting!

Now i’d like to describe one of the most important works that Picasso produced in his “blue” to “pink” transition period. To begin with, this painting is a genre scene. Pablo Picasso lived in 20 century and worked in styles known as Cubism, Surrealism and Modernism. To my mind, it’s a romantic and colorful picture, which shows a family of acrobats. The painting was completed in warm and bright colors. These colors contrast very well. In the foreground, there are totally four figures: a man sitting in the left right side, a woman holding a baby in the center in the painting, as well as a monkey in the lower right corner. The clothing on the figures are plain, shows no detail except the color. The artist also used defined lines to distinguish each figure from each other and from the background. In the background, there is not concrete object; rather, Picasso use a generative stoke and divide the background into three color palette from left to right: orange, green and blue. It looks like Picasso focused on idea of maternity and motherhood and continue to raise awareness of human suffering. In my opinion, parents just met their child after the performance with a monkey. It’s brilliant and amazing painting and i think it’s real masterpiece by Pablo Picasso.

Daria Ivanova

I would like to describe a really well-known painting "Paris Street; Rainy Day" by Gustave Caillebotte. Gustave Caillebotte was a French painter who worked in impressionism style in the 19th century, he also painted many domestic and familial scenes, interiors, and portraits. To my mind, this picture is really romantic and lyrical and shows us a simple Paris street with lots of people. The picture is painted in soft and delicate colours which also blends with cold colours and looks really impressive. Dominating colours are black and yellow, but they are on different levels of composition. The space in the picture is asymmetrically divided. In the foreground of the painting we can see a couple, a man and a woman wearing confident black suit. They also have an umbrella, and i can say they are walking under the rain in romantic atmosphere. On the background we can see many people wearing similar suits, this says a lot about those time, where buying fashion clothes was the main aim for most people, but we can see that they were wearing so depressing and calm clothes, no bright colours or something like that. On the left stands we can see a car, one of the first models in history, artists trying to mirror us the time of industrialization in Europe. At first glance, the picture looks depressing, but if you look closely you can see beautiful buildings with old style planning. This says us a lot, this is the edge between the new and the old world. By the way, it looks like a day out for all people, a day time and lots of people outside. It is brilliant, amazing. It is a real masterpiece by Gustave Caillebotte.

Egor Suvorov

He vas born in 1906 in a tiny Ukranian town and worked in such genres as formalisn and abstractionism. His works are famous all over the world and some of his paintings can be found in National Museums. The most famous of his works are depicting children and one of them i'm going to describe. To my mind, "Again the deuce" is a lifelike and colorful picture which shows a family: mother, son, his older sister, his younger brother and their dog. This picture is painted in warm, soft and delicate colours, which are perfectly matched. The pictire is assymetrically divided. In the foreground we can see a boy, who is very very sad. He had just came home ang going to tell something sad and a dog which is always happy to see him.In the background we can see his mother. She couldn' t finish all the housework before the children returned and she already know that her son is going to tell about a bad mark. Behind her we can see the boy's older sister. I think she in an "excellent studend", who always get good marks. There is also smaller brother, who in my opinion still doesn't enter school. This painting by Reshetnikov only causes positive emotions and feelings, since the whole family depicted on the canvas is friendly and strong. I feel extremely impressed by this painting, I really love the Soviet atmosphere, and the cosiness of of makes me feel comfortable.

Well let me describe the Mikhail Vrubel’s painting called “The Demon Seated”. Painting which is an illustration of demon from Mikhail Lermontov poem was painted in 1890. Russian artist Mikhail Vrubel who lived in 19-20 centuries and worked in style known as symbolism, was also a famous sculptor. His works are famous around the word and some of them are located in National Museums. To my mind, “The Demon Seated” is really powerful and lyrical picture, which shows us a man sitting atop a mountain. The picture painted in deep colours which contrast very well and space of the picture is symmetrically divided. In the foreground there is a man, who is actually the demon from the painting’s name, sitting surrounded by enormous frozen flowers. This glass or frozen flowers fit just all the space from the man to the right-hand side of the picture. The “Demon” is wearing only blue trousers and nothing more and shows us contrast between masculinity of his muscles and the femininity of his long hair swirling and his body position. In the far distance we can make out the outline of a flaming sunset and mountainous area which looks just endless. The artist managed to capture the atmosphere of loneliness, sadness and hopelessness. It looks as man just lost something really important for him and don’t understand what to do now. Well it seems to me that I couldn’t just put into word the impression made on me by the Vrubel’s masterpiece. This artist lived in the 20th century and worked in the style known as Romanticism. To my mind, it is a lyrical and romantic picture, which shows the young woman, who is standing near her house. The dominanting colours are light. There are a lot of soft and delicate colours too. These colours contrast very well. The space of the picture is symmetrically divided. In the middle of the painting we can see a beautiful young woman, who is harrying on the date. She is looking forward to her lover. The girl is dressed very elegant. She is wearing a pretty hat. There is a scarf that develops in the wind. She is wearing a chocolate color dress. She also wearing green coat and is holding a small bag. In the background, there are lots of beautiful roses that are covered with snow. The steps also flowed with snow. There is a window which is probably leaving the character's room. A little behind the girl there is her dedicated dog. At first glance, it looks strange as we do not understand what the artist wanted to say. But if we look closely, we can see that the artist created an incredible illusion that the girl is in the haze of winter evening. The artist managed to capture the atmosphere of unforgettable memories about the winter. The artist showed that love is not afraid of any frost, and the girl blossomed like rose. She may just gone out into the street, so have not freeze yet. I feel extremely impressed by this charming painting.

To begin with, “Las Meninas” is a historical painting which belongs to the brush of Diego Velázquez. This artist was born in Seville, Spain and worked in the style known as Baroque. To my mind, this is an impressive and heart-breaking picture, which shows the family of King Philip IV. The picture is painted in bright and dark colors. These colors contrast very well. The space of the picture is asymmetrically divided and it happens because there are lots of people in the painting. In the foreground, the daughter of King Philip IV and she stands near her babysitter. On the left-hand side, there is a painter, who is painting a daughter’s portrait. On the right hand-side, her sisters are waiting for their turn and next to them the dog is resting. In the background, King Philip IV is going up the stairs to his cabinet. At first glance, it looks like a simple family day, but if you look closely, you can see that not everyone is happy, they don’t smile and feel depressed as they have to be in perfect shape all the time. To my mind, it is a masterpiece that could stand the test of time and you should consider every detail of the painting to understand author’s opinion about the family of King Philip IV.

Elizaveta Chekhlataya

"Landscape with the fall of Icarus" by Pieter Bruegel

I would like to describe the picture called "Landscape with the fall of Icarus". To begin with, this painting belongs to the brush of Pieter Bruegel the Elder. This artist lived in the 16 century and worked in the style known as Сlassicism. To my mind, it is an impressive picture that shows a landscape and the people who live in it.
The picture is painted in bright and warm colours, which contrast very well. The space of the picture is assimetrically divided. Although this is a landscape, people and their actions take up most of the picture. In the far distance, there are mountain ranges and towns. In the middle, ships move across a sea. There is also a shepherd, who minds a flock of sheep, and a farmer, who ploughs a small stretch of land. In fact, in Greek mythology, Icarus succeeded in flight, using wings made by his father Daedalus, using feathers fixed with bee wax. Ignoring his father’s warnings, Icarus decided to fly too close to the sun, melting the wax, fell into the sea and drowned. And in the bottom right-hand corner, we can see his pair of legs.
At first glance, there is nothing special about this picture. but if we look closely, we can see the fall of Icarus. It looks like a tiny detail, but it adds a fascinating impression to the rest of the work. It also seems to me that the farmer didn’t notice anything at all, and the shepherd looks at the sky with a casual look, as if nothing had happened. In other words, time moves on and soon a new day will begin.
To my mind, this is a masterpiece that could stand the test of time. This picture shows us human's indifference to suffering, emphasizing the ordinary events that continue to occur despite Icarus' unnoticed death.
Varya Seliverstova

I would like to describe the real masterpiece by William John Hennessy called " The Pride of Dijon" which was created in 1879. The artist lived in 19th century. He was a talented Irish landscape painter, genre painter and illustrator. To begin with, this painting is the genre scene which shows us the young couple and a breathtaking landscape. To my mind, it is a romantic and impressive picture. This masterpiece is painted in deep, bright and light colours. They are contrast very well. The dominating colours are blue, green and white The colours contrast with each other. The gold colour make the painting magical. The space of the picture is symmetrically divided. In the foreground there is a romantic couple. The woman is wearing in a smart dress in elegant colours. There is a fan on her knees. The man in the prim costume sitting by his beloved. On the right-hand side we can see a small table with two cups of drink. Bushes of white roses grow behind the fence. In the background there is a mill-pond and dark forest. At first glance they might be talking, but if we look closely, the woman has her back to us, so we can't see her facial expression, or know for sure that she is talking to him. I feel extremely impressed by this adorable painting.
Polina Mokretsova

I would like to describe charming picture called «Pluck Roses As Soon As Possible» which is a genuine art masterpiece, which belongs to the brush of John William Waterhouse. It is an English artist, whose work is attributed to the later stage of pre-Raphaelitism. He is known for his female images, which he borrowed from mythology and literature. This picture is drawn in the styles know as Romanticism and Symbolism. Its plot represents a genre scene. To my mind, it is a romantic and lyrical picture, which shows two gorgeous girls. The artist used contrasts, with the rose tones and shades, as well as the smooth and soft brushstrokes, to idolize female beauty and convey it using the best colors! The space of the picture asymmetrically divided. In the middle of the picture we can see girls, who are dressed in wonderful light dresses that emphasize their femininity. They are picking roses, arranging flowers in a bouquet. The girls are very passionate about the process. In the background there is a river, symbolizing the entire course of life from the beginning to the end. In the distance, among the trees, there are two more girls, young, slim and graceful. If we look closely, we can see a deep philosophical meaning of the picture. The master of the brush encourages viewers to perceive a joy in every moment, enjoying the minutes of youth, love, happiness, and blossom. They will never happen again! Well I feel extremely impressed by this painting. An artwork transmits its light and goodness, love and harmony of the Universe. The warmth and joy of the picture make me want to join the girls on the lawn and pick beautiful roses with them!
Nastya Pisarevskaya

"Alyonushka" by Viktor Vasnetsov

I would like to describe the famous painting "Alyonushka", painted in 1881. Let's start with the fact that this painting is a portrait belonging to the brush of Viktor Vasnetsov. This artist lived in the nineteenth century and worked in a style known as Romanticism. Now let's turn to the picture itself. In my opinion, this is a mysterious and peaceful picture, which depicts a sad girl with her head bowed. She longs for her lost brother, but her face expresses hope for a happy future, which, of course, will surely come. The plot of the picture is based on a story that happened in the writer in 1880. One day, walking along the road near the Akhtyrka pond, Viktor Vasnetsov saw a beautiful, but very sad girl. So for the first time there was an idea of creating a picture that would depict the heroine of a Russian fairy tale. The girl who served as the prototype looked very lonely and seemed to be the embodiment of Russian sadness. When looking at the picture, the viewer has a feeling of quiet sadness and calm admiration for the beauty of nature. In the center of the composition is a sad girl. She's wearing ordinary peasant clothes. All alone, she sits on a cold stone, her bare feet tucked together. She has her head bowed on her hands and does not notice anything around her, as she is completely occupied with sad thoughts. In the background of the painting, a beautiful Russian landscape is visible. The artist perfectly succeeded in the water surface of the pond, thickets of reeds and spruce. Everything is still, quiet, calm. Even the pond reflects the nature of the artwork. It seems to me that I could not put into words the impression made on me by this picture.

I would like to describe the outstanding picture "Impression. The Rising sun". To begin with, this painting is a landscape which belongs to the brush of Claude Monet. This work was written in 1872. Claude Monet lived in the 19-20 centuries in France. He worked in the style known as Impressionism. To my mind, this is unique and dreamlike picture which shows the outport of the Le Havre. This picture is painted in cold and soft colours. The dominating colours are light blue, orange and white. These colours contrast very well. The space of the picture is asymmetrically divided. In the middle of the painting we can see a boat with two people. In the background there are outlines of ships. The artist manages to capture his impression of the landscape he saw, and not the landscape itself. We can understand this by the fact that there are very few details in the picture. It looks as if this people want to escape from the problems they have in the town where they previously lived. Perhaps, they will be helped by the hope presented by the new day. Well, it seems to me that I couldn't put into words the impression made on me by this painting.
