I knew in the 3rd grade that I wanted to be a teacher! I have always known that is what Jesus called me to do because it brings such joy to see a child learn new things academically and spiritually. I treasure the fact that I can make a difference in the lives of so many children! My favorite part of teaching after all of these years in both public and private school is the relationships I have made and will get to develop with my future students. I also LOVE that I can share freely about Jesus and pray with my sweet kids whenever they ask.

I had a desire to teach beginning in 6th grade. I truly believe God called me to this amazing profession. I get such joy in working with children and helping the light bulb turn on. The relationships I've had with students and their families over the years has been such a blessing. I can't imagine doing anything else with my life!

I always wanted to teach kindergarten. When I began my career, public schools did not offer kindergarten. I finally realized my dream when I began teaching at SBEC. Children make me smile. Children make me laugh. If I can do anything to better the life of a child, then my life has purpose and meaning.

I always wanted to be a teacher. As a child I loved school supplies, playing school, and loved going to school. I was so thankful when I realized that teaching was my "calling." As a teacher I never stop learning new things and new teaching methods. I absolutely love teaching kindergarten, every day is a new day. A few days ago I was given the great compliment by one of my students, that my "disco dancing" was better than John Travolta's.

I love what I do! My brother was fifteen months younger than me and could not read, spell, or write. He was very bright and capable with his hands and thinking. Teachers were at a loss as to him so he eventually failed in school and life. I wanted to be a hope for students like my brother. Also, I loved watching my teachers as a little girl. I was the misfit child- physical appearance, socially insecure, horrible math irritant to the teacher, and overlooked in many arenas! But, I dreamed of being that lady - the teacher. She was smart, pretty, and perfect in her talking and behavior. As I got older, I just wanted to be a dispenser of words and thinking. When I became a Christian, the Lord birthed my dream and gave me the opportunity to teach children who were different academically and sometimes socially. The desire to unlock bright minds and to give hope and value to a child's heart is energy and joy for me!

I come from a family of educatators, and I grew up with a love for learning and an apprecation for learning and working hard in school. I chose to be a teacher, espeicallly, early childhood, becausse I love to see the excitment they have as they learn and grow each day. I also love building relationships with my class and their famalies. Teaching at NCS in a Christian enviroment is such a blessing because not only do I get to help the children grow academicaly but I also get to help them grow spiritually, and in return I benifit spiritually as well.

I just love the teaching process and watching the lightbulb come on when a child "gets it"! I feel like we are so privileged to speak truth into their lives at these early developmental stages. I think what I love most is building the relationships with these kids. As a child, I had a tough family situation growing up. There are teachers that were aware of our situation that were such a huge blessing to me and my family. i will never forget that. God has put us in a position where we can truly make a difference, even if it's just the encouraging word we say or the hug we give. We never know what that child is going through. I think the relationships and the impact we can have is what drew me to teaching in the first place!

When I was young and trying to decide on my career, teaching was always in the back of my mind. I loved school and loved my teachers. "Playing School" was a favorite pastime at home. At first I thought I might follow in my sisters' footsteps and work in an office, but after taking business classes in high school I quickly ruled that out. Too tedious. So when college came I took a few education courses and I enjoyed them and it seemed to suit my personality. I knew I wanted to be doing something with people and I had worked in a daycare and also taught children at church. So once I realized God was leading me that way, it made sense and I've never regretted it. The funny thing is that I loved school when I was older, but didn't like first grade. I was not a good student and remember having trouble with reading; my lightbulb didn't come on until fourth grade. So it is ironic or rather God's plan that I teach first grade. I love this age group and hope to instill a love of school and a love of reading in them.
I want them to know I care about them and that they feel a sense of security.
Bridgett

I honestly did not plan on becoming a teacher. I wanted to be a child life specialist, and I hoped to work at St. Jude one day. God had different plans. I think God gave me a gift of listening, teaching, and helping others. I get to use these gifts everyday. Although my students may frustrate me at times, I find the most joy in watching them grow, having those light bulb moments, when I figure out ways to help them be successful (even when I have to think outside the box and try to figure out how they learn best). I love the challenges that come with teaching, although I may not act like it at times. I love meeting each child where they are at and seeing how far we can grow them in the time that I have them in my class. I love the relationships that I get to build with my students and their families.

i have always wanted to be a teacher. When I was young, I would "teach" my dolls, my sister, and whatever else I could find to "teach"... call it the bossy side of me, I guess. I majored in Physical therapy in college but soon knew that I wasn't cut out for that. After my second child, I decided to go back to school to get my degree to teach. I wanted to be with my children, and I wanted to teach children.

God Lead Me to My Passion

When I was little, I "played" school but never desired to be a teacher that I know of. In fact, as a student, I hated school. As I grew in my faith, I prayed for God's will for my life. I asked Him to order my steps and to speak loudly so I can hear Him lead. I flip flopped back and forth between possible careers for myself as most young people do. During my senior year of high school, I told my father I wanted to be a beautician. He said, "Choose another career. They are a dime a dozen." I told my dad that I wanted to be a missionary. He said, "That is fine but you need to have a back up degree for when you come off the field." I knew I liked to draw and I liked to babysit so I studied Elementary Ed as my "backup" degree. That was exactly where God wanted me to be. The puzzle piece fit perfectly and has ever since. I am passionate about teaching and love every minute of it. I love it so much I teach children at my church as well! What a joy it is to get to live out your passion every day!
