As a part of his graduate program focusing on environmental protection and conservation, Anson Justi conducted research at the UC Davis Policy Institute for Energy, Environment, and the Economy. He led a research team in the analysis of transportation surveys and developed policy briefs on telecommuting, e-shopping, and ride-hailing. In 2020, Anson Justi spent six months as a contributing researcher for The Nature Conservancy. His research for a nature-based climate solutions report concentrated on urban reforestation and compost applications to reduce carbon emissions. In 2021, Anson Justi participated in a partnership project between the UC Davis Environmental Policy and Management graduate program and the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB). He contributed to a presentation for public communications on the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. As part of his personal research, he has become an expert on critical minerals and climate security, exploring the economic relationship between the United States and China and their roles in mitigating the effects of climate change. In addition to his graduate research, Anson Justi served as a volunteer researcher for the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
