         <title>Relationships in its ecosystem </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Relationships in the Australian Sea Lions ecosystems are competitive, predatory, and mutually beneficial relationships. <br><br>An example of a <strong>competitive relationship </strong>is the male sea lions. The male sea lions are also one of the main reason why the most Sea Lion pups do not live past 2. The male Sea Lions also compete for territory and food because of the shortage of food. The Australian Sea Lions also have <strong>predatory relationships</strong> with other animals. The Australian Sea Lions have a predatory Relationships with Great White Sharks and different types of fish. The Australian Sea Lion has a predatory relationships with different types of fish because the Australian Sea Lion eats (preys) the fish. The Australian Sea Lion also has a predatory relationships with the Great White Shark because the Great White Shark eats the Australian Sea Lion. <br><br>In the ecosystem of the Australian Sea Lion there are <strong>Mutually- Beneficial relationships. </strong>Such as the Clownfish and the anemone. This is an example of  a Mutually- Beneficial relationship because  the Clownfish depends on the anemone to give them shelter from other animals, which are found in their ecosystem. </div>]]></description>

         <title>How Energy is Cycled </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>First the sun gives the energy to the producer, which is the seaweed. It does this through photosynthesis. Then the fish eats the seaweed and obtains energy. Then the octopus obtain energy by consuming the fish. Then the Sea Lion obtain energy, then lastly the Sharks obtains the energy by eating the sea lion. When the shark dies, the the bacteria breaks apart the dead organism. Every time an animal, plant, decomposer, obtains the energy it gets a little less energy because the thing before them gives off heat. If the producer got removed then the fish wouldn't have anything to eat causing the octopus to not have anything to eat which means everything else won't have anything to eat and they will probably die.</div>]]></description>

         <title>How Matter is Cycled </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The cycle of matter flows through animals by what they eat. The cycle starts with the decomposers cycling matter from a dead organism and giving the soil nutrients. The plants then pick up the nutrients and take them for their own good. When the plants get eaten up the consumer receives the nutrients. When that consumer gets eaten up by another consumer than that animal has the nutrients. That process goes on and on until it starts all over because an animal died. If the flow of matter did not flow the ecosystem would not run smoothly because most of every animal in the ecosystem depends on each animal for food. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Adaptations </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Sea Lion has many behavioral adaptations. Those are, they swim very well, are agile and can dive well, so they can escape predators and can easily catch prey. Sea Lions also sleep on their back floating on the water to keep cool. In the wild Sea Lions live 15-25 years.<br><br>They have flippers instead of feet.<br>This helps them swim.<br><br>They have streamlined bodies to help them get away from predictors.<br><br>To come on land, they rotate their hind flippers to face forward like a foot. They then use their front flipper to propel on the land.  This is where they mate.  <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Positive Impacts</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Human positively impact Sea Lions ecosystem by <strong>bringing awareness </strong>to the issue (teaching people why they are endangered).<br><br></div><div>Humans also <strong>nurse the Sea Lions</strong> so they can be healthy again and put back in the ocean. Humans have started a <strong>Sea Lion challenge </strong>to collect plastic that is in the oceans because there is currently 14 million pieces of trash thrown in the ocean in a year.  This impacts sea lions because they think it is food and eat it.  Also, many different places, like <strong>World Wildlife</strong>, are helping the Australian Sea Lion and working to try to make them not endangered. <br>There is funding for the Australian Sea Lions for in depth studies on them. The money will go to help the sea lions. In some websites there are forms to fill out to donate money to the sea lions.  This is how humans are positively making a difference.          <title>Negative Impacts </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Humans <strong>kill </strong>the Sea Lions to use their blubber. The blubber is not used that often because people don’t need oil or meat from this animal as much anymore.<br>They use the blubber for oil, meat, and making leather. They do not kill them that often because there are many other animals with blubber that are bigger than Sea Lions, but this is impacting their population. <br><br><strong>Plastic and pollution </strong>are very harmful to the Sea Lions. Plastic is never completely gone because it breaks into smaller pieces. The animals that are eating the plastic could easily die because of it. There are different kinds of pollution and it is killing the sea lions.<br><br>Sea Lions have also been effected by<strong> overfishing.</strong> Overfishing is when fisherman take more fish than they should. This affects the Sea Lions because they are now left with less food and that can result to the population decrease. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Plan to Help Its Ecosystem </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Our plan to help the Australian Sea Lions is to<strong> inform the public</strong> about Australian Sea Lions so that they can learn about them and they can help them. Many different places are helping the australian sea lion and working to try to make them not endangered. </div><div>There is<strong> funding </strong>for the Australian sea lions for in depth studies on them. The money will go to help the sea lions. In some websites there are forms to fill out to donate money to the sea lions. We can help by teaching other people about the Australian Sea Lion. We could also <strong>clean up the beaches</strong> to help the waters become non polluted and safer for the Australian Sea Lions. </div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>According to  the IUCN Red list of Threatened Species, “Despite the large number of breeding sites (81) used by Australian Sea Lions, only seven sites produce more than 100 pups per breeding season, all of which are in South Australia. The average pup production per breeding site is just 40, with most sites (70%), producing fewer than 30 pups per breeding season (Goldsworthy <em>et al</em>. 2009, Goldsworthy unpublished data).”  Because less are breeding, there are less in the wild. <br>Australia has the most water surrounding Australia protected.  </div>]]></description>
