Studies show that not all identical twins can roll their tongues whereas they have almost 100% identical genes.

In my view, ability tongue rolling is not affect by genetics traits but it occur due to the influence of a dominant allele of the gene. The study proven that not all identical twins have the ability for tongue rolling. If 2 twins out of 10 twins has the ability means the twin has one or two copies of dominant allele. On the other view, the studies also has proven that if a person who don't have the ability of tongue rolling, can able to make roll their tongue like others by having a good practice. Scientists are not saying genetics plays no role in the tongue roll. It could be that several genes might play a part in making small changes in tongue .muscles that might allow the tongue to roll. However, there is no one gene that controls the trick.

-rittigaa dbt5c-

Tongue rolling is not just a genetic trait because more than one gene could contribute to tongue-rolling abilities. Perhaps the same genes that determine the tongue’s length or muscle tone are involved. But there isn’t a single dominant gene that’s responsible.-The tongue-rolling gene comes in two forms, one that lets you roll your tongue and another that doesn't. If you have a version of the tongue-rolling gene that lets you roll your tongue and a version that doesn't, then you can roll your tongue.
