A Bad Case of the Stripes by David Shannon is a wonderful story of a girl who feels as though she has to change herself and her likes to appease others. the reader quickly learns that this is not the case and never should be. Books such as this help children to develop their own sense of self and be proud of the person they are and will become. This Scholastic list is a great start for introducing children to this topic.
